Nobody has posted in this thread for nearly a month. Has the season just gotten too exciting for everyone to keep up? What a crazy NASCAR month it's been in May! Every race seems like anything can happen and it usually does. I am loving how this new car has changed up everything and anyone can contend for the win each and every week. I'm NOT loving how there continue to be tire issues! One week it is the left rear and the next week it is the right rear. NASCAR and Goodyear can keep saying that it is because the teams aren't listening to Goodyear's minimum specs for tire inflation or are using too much camber/toe in those areas, but at some point Goodyear will have to create a stronger sidewall or NASCAR will have to enforce either the starting tire pressures or mandate a camber or toe angle that minimizes damage to the sidewall of the tires. No matter what, everyone needs to figure it out! What is the real advantage of getting the extra grip on a restart vs. damaging the tire early and blowing it out 20 laps later to end up in the wall or spinning out to HOPEFULLY hit nothing?! The last several races have been truly entertaining and unpredictable. But I think the drivers, crew chiefs and team owners would much rather NOT have a tire blow for random reasons to wreck the car(s). I did NOT expect a 10-car pile-up in the 600, but that's exactly what happened and that one wasn't even caused by a tire issue. What a crazy season! I still don't think anyone makes the plyoffs this year without a win.
I have to disagree 100%, Goodyear makes the Tire and gives specs. If YOU CHOOSE to go lower or add more camber that is your choice and not on NASCAR. You are rolling the dice on if their will be a problem or not, Its the same as the ride height, Nascar has taken the ride height rule out and some teams are going to low and the cars are high siding themselves all because of a CHOICE the teams make.
As for Racing, It is some of the closest in parody we have seen in years, Seems like Chev strong one week then Ford the Toyota. Is great season. But I am loving this car and the racing it is producing. Jeff

How about the fact we got the tripleheader back for the day. I got to watch the F1 race, but only the end of Indy and none of the 600. Dang soccer tournaments and 3 hour drives....

I'm not trading right now; I don't know when I will again....
I'm not saying the tire is exactly the problem. Teams don't get specs on toe and camber. Goodyear only tells minimum tire pressure. They don't know how the toe or camber the teams will use affects the tire. NASCAR R&D should know that info and inform the teams of a minimum and maximum for those. Everyone is learning as they go, but NASCAR had a full extra year of testing the cars due to the pandemic. Seems like they would have done a lot more work with the tires since the rim is 3 inches larger and the tires are much shorter and wider than they were before this new car. I still think they should have inner liners in these tires. That way a blow-out isn't as catastrophic and also, with a single lug now, there is almost no chance of hitting valve stems to flatten the tire as it's being put on. I know they will all figure out how to minimize tire damage, but I want to see it happen faster. They were pretty quick to keep the cars from getting high-spotted on the frame after 2 tires would blow on the same side or end of the car, as well as how to stop damaging the rear air defuser when needing a push or tow. The air defuser and engine air flow vents are the reason they got rid of the ride height specs. Both changes means there isn't a huge advantage to having your car higher or lower than the other cars now. The new car is still a work in progress and I think it's made for awesome racing so far. I'm just tired of seing a blown tire end the day for a great car or several cars. This Sunday at Gateway (now WWT) Raceway should be exciting. Not only the first time with this car, but the 1st time for the Cup Series. However, a bunch of the drivers do have some experience at the track in Trucks or NXS cars (and several have wins there). Should be fun to watch.

How crazy was that race at Gateway (now WWT Raceway)? That was just insane. Fantastic racing all afternoon and into the evening, but a few drivers lost their minds a little bit. The racing was super exciting on restarts and for a few laps afterwards, then calmed down and then someone blew a tire or spun out. Re-rack the cars and it all happened again... over and over and over. A very interesting race overall, but Denny Hamlin is a complete punk and showed his crybaby ways once again on Sunday. After Chastain also spun Chase Elliott, Denny was just being a... I'll stop there even though Denny didn't and still hasn't. I don't like Ross or Denny at all, but I hope Ross gets the last laugh in this situation. Hamlin may be a very good driver, but there is one reason why he still isn't a champion. That reason is DENNY! He blames everyone but himself for every failure he has ever had. He is the most penalized driver on pit road for the past few years and most of the time it is on him for speeding or taking equipment out of the box. There is also a good reason that his pit stops are slow and that's because nobody wants to work on his car when he blames them when he screws up. Hamlin is the biggest whiner I've ever seen in NASCAR period. I don't even think winning a championship would change that.
