Piggy-backing off TwinKiller's last thread, what's your least prized posession, or who/what do you most despise collecting for the sake of completeness? As a Yankees team collector I've had quite a few in the past 30 years, but I think it is still Alex Rodriguez for me right now. The combination of his playing career, controversy & steroids, dishonesty, personality, lame announcing syle and cheesy persona tops it off for me. Pettitte, Giambi, Damon, Clemens, Curtis, Grimsley, Justice, Knoblauch, Canseco, Cano, Cabrera, Cervelli, Sheffield, etc... have (dis) honorable mentions.

At first I thought this was a weird question, but after reading the first post I realized Roberto Alomar is that for me, as an Orioles collector. His spitting incident was bad, but the recent accusations against him are far worse.

I don't really dislike them, but the 80s stickers variations I'm trying to acquire for my Dwight Evans collection, give me fits.
I literally just watched that Seinfeld clip last night.

For me, as a Kenseth collector, it would probably be the "cards" that aren't really cards. For instance, the "cards" that come with the diecasts though they are usually like magnets, cut-outs shaped like his helmet or car, etc. Though I still collect them for my PC, they are the ones that I am less motivated to purchase in general. This was a great question and I had to think on it.

Matt Kenseth card collection is nearing 50% with over 2300 different cards. Always looking for the missing remainders to get to 100% completion.

I would probably say the new digital cards I've been seeing and hearing about. I like a physical card.

I never cared for a certain player while he was playing, and I got to witness some unkind behavior on his part toward some very young kids. I never collected his cards, but then he was elected into the hall of fame (first ballot as well, ugh!), and since I collect all baseball HOFers, he went into the collection. I now have a lot more of his cards than I ever wanted. The player: Eddie Murray.

There in lies the problem with collecting for the sake of completeness. Thankfully, I abandonded this method of collecting years ago. I realized the point in having a "complete set" of anything was not that important because the overwhelming majority of cards in that set are either player/teams that I really didn't care about. Why clutter up a collection with cards you otherwise would have no interest in obtaining?

In my PC, I have all of the HoF. Most recently, when I heard that Harold Baines had been voted in by the Veterans committee, I had difficulty continuing my inclusion of all HoF. I have many players in my PC that were stars in their time such as Dale Murphy, Steve Garvey, Dwight Evans and a few Blue Jays but never did I have Baines in it. When he did get voted in, I had to go through all my traders and find his cards. Still now, I don't particularly go out and seek those of his cards that I am missing.
I must add that when Ted Simmons was voted in, I had to do the same. But when you look at his numbers and achievements as a catcher, I am happy to include his cards. A recent Blog I read mentioned that he played during a time overshadowed by 3 higher profile catchers therefore he did not often get the credit for his play on the field.
