Always been tried but now I'm retired.
Raised on a farm so I learned to do everything.
My schooling was in Drafting and Design. Most of my jobs have been with small companies so I did a lot of things for them.
All of my jobs had some form of documentations invoved with them. Configuration management was a big part of what I have done in most places. That is why I bite my tongue when I see how companies and sites label sets and set them up.
Plastic injection molding: design of molds and every thing else with them.
Civil and surveying: We did a road around Mt Helens before it blow up. The Gov OKed the payments to us just 2 weeks before it blow so we got our money. Set up their documentation system and all the mapping of land surveied.
Computer companies: Design boxes, labels, PC boards, plastic and sheet metal parts Went through 2 changes of databases that the whole company used. Worked heavy on the Bills of Materials for 1000s of products that is where comfiguration managment come in to play.
BI Inc: They did the home arrest systems: ankle brackets Worked on all areea and parts for design.
Then for a company that did Total ankle replacements. My boss said I went from ankle bracket to the ankle.
I even have done a couple of homes. Just a base layout of them.
The last years I worked for the Gov on the Wind profiler network. Over seeing field techs and all the documentations. Involved in a change of database. Real pain when you go from the 80s to 2000s computers. When hired they told me I wouldl be watching the winds but all I did was watch a computer screen.
