Started in construction. Went back to school. Became a middle school teacher. Grade 8 (mostly) for 13 years. Back to construction for a couple years. Then worked in group homes for 7 or 8 years. Switched from there to a homeless shelter for 14 men which due to covid has grown to 48 people, men and women. About to move to a new large facility. I'm supervisor, so in charge of staff and client needs on day to day basis.

I'm mostly organizing over adding right now.

Retired Military, Professional Baseball Chaplain and Retired Educator. Still working Part-Time (some) in Baseball and continuing to Play The Greatest Game, on a local Team, here on The Florida Space Coast. Busier than ever, especially as a fairly young Retiree. Blessed to Be A Blessing . . .
Yours in The Journey - Felix

Always looking for Blackhawk hockey, Notre Dame Football, White Sox and Bears Stuff. I have a plaque in my card room that says, "I could have been a millionaire but my mom threw out my baseball cards". How apropos!!! Collecting Chicago Blackhawks Hockey, Doug Wilson Hockey, Chicago Bears Older, Notre Dame Football in their college jerseys and Chicago White Sox.

VP of Fixed Income Operations for Financial Firm. (Sounds way more impressive than actually is)
I would describe my role as "spreadsheet design and management reporting".
Worked 15 years in Produce before my schooling and corporate endeavors.

Well not many of the older crew have reported in yet, I see Vrooomed, V3 and snadyrusty as well as a few others so I guess I will throw in my big bad bio too lol. Dropped out of college before it even started (was going for my business degree) as my father offered me a dream gig, work as his helper as a flooring tech and pay cheap rent and still live at home. Well duh, got my money back from college and spent the next 19 years in the industry. Took over dad's "business" in 2000 and finally quit over pay schedule with store owner. No unions up here, you had to fight for your worth. A friend offered me a position as a contracted General Contractor for an insurance rebuild company. And did that for two years before jumping into my own personal business of General Contracting. Residential and Commercial renovations was the majority but also new construction in both as well, did everything from a dentist clinic to 150,000 dollar home renovation. Decks, fences and almost anything you could imagine. Were in talks to build my first two spec homes when the Oilpatch crashed and within a year I laid off my last of three employees, had dropped my wage by 45% to try and get work and slowly watched my dreams disappear. (thankfully the wife was moving up in her career to make upo for my losses) Oil never came back and was back to doing handyman work just to try and keep business afloat, then August of 2019 hit. Tore my right (dominate) shoulder to peices on jobsite and by October was ordered to stop work immediately as I needed surgery. Was working on a good reno job I had gotten (inside and out of an entire house) and ended up having to hire out all the work at a major loss to have it done for January 1st. We finished Jan 6 2020 with my wife doing the last bit of siding with me as everyone was on Christmas holiday. Surgery was scheduled for March, and the day before lockdown hit. Got surgery in late June finally and have been dealing with physio and being told my career is over. Things are not healing right and am on my way back to see surgeon. No Workers Comp as self employed but personal insurance lasts til Sept 1 this year.
So at 49 with the big 50 in November I am redefining who I am and what I am doing. With the help of one remarkable member here and the unbelivable chance to own the "Sacramento" I am this close to starting Frozen Penguin Collectibles. An online sales and breaker business with a old friend here in Canada. On top of that I have used some money wisely and am also in the process of starting Frozen Penguin Creations a private woodshop and creative lab for all things, wood, acrylic and plastic. Will sell those online as well with hopes of custom acyrlic tables and lathework to be the main focus. Yup at 50 trying to start the 25 year plan all over again. Sorry for the bio LOL, so not sure what you would call me. Everything has been self taught on site with professional guidance. No real title other than self-employed euntepnuer(?) I'm certainly not a handyman, GC or flooring tech anymore. Peace.
