Has anyone found, created or seen a chart
where they took Seasons before the Chase and
had the scoring redone to see how different the Champions would be....
One I can think of is DE would have taken Gordon's first Championship,
Would DE still of won 7 or maybe more.....

I liked the idea of the Chase in the beginning. It was a way to keep a driver from running away with the Championship and getting the title with 2-3 races left in the season. It's the same thing as the playoffs in other sports. You don't just crown the team with the best record at the end of the season. Make all the best teams face each other (up to several times) to determine who is the best of the best. I don't like that they keep changing it though. I don't like the eliminations and resetting points though. Keep the points going for all 16 drivers through the end of the Chase. I'd still like only the Top-4 having a chance at the title in the final race with the top finisher winning it though. But it should be through all 9 previous races, not 3 groups of 3 races each. I didn't like the idea of Stages at first, but that has worked really well IMO. I really like it now. It makes for different strategies in every race (chase points for the total race or set up to win at the end). NASCAR's heyday really was in the 1990's and it died off considerably when Dale Sr. died. That is the reason NASCAR started changing things a few years later. They wanted to entice more people to follow it or get the deserters interested again. The pandemic last year really helped with the way NASCAR dealt with it and ratings were up significantly. That could have brought in new fans that will stick around and this could continue well past the pandemic. NASCAR's diversity program also got a shot in the arm from 2020 and will help in the future as well. I see NASCAR getting more popular if the trend continues.
As for ticket prices, in my knowledge, only baseball is cheaper for a major sport. I can get really good seats at a NASCAR Cup race for $50-60 each depending on the track. An NFL game is that much for the nose-bleed seats 30+ rows up and you are still having to watch a giant TV to even have a clue what just happened. MLB tickets are $15-20 for outfield seats. You are far from homeplate, but can see the whole field. Remember that NASCAR tickets work opposite of the other sports. The higher up you are, the more of the track you can see and therefore the price is higher. A front row seat at Martinsville is $40 ($50 at Charlotte). You can't see the entire track, but you can see 3/4's of it. You are right there at the edge of the track and that experience is amazing in NASCAR! A front row seat at an NFL game is going to cost hundreds of dollars and one at an MLB game from 3rd base to home plate to 1st base is going to cost a bunch too. I've never been to an NBA or NHL game, so I have no idea what their costs are per seat. NASCAR and NFL are my favorite sports to watch and I'd much rather be at a NASCAR track than an NFL stadium. I'd rather watch the football game at home. Baseball is much more interesting in-person than on TV, but I have to go a long way to get to an MLB game and the entire MiLB is chaos right now.

It's not so much the ticket costs but the getting to the track that's the problem. Reports of hotels raising their prices by 300% or more for the race weekends, etc. are common. Gouging is well known.
Before the pandemic last season or the season before the Cleveland Cavaliers ran a special where tickets were $2. Parking was $25. If it wasn't a 9 hour ride I might have actually done that. Found out too late.

I understand that too Billy, even though I didn't really think about it with my reply before. But NC has a price-gouging law that applies to natural disasters and events such as sports and conventions. Hotels are only allowed to jack up the prices for high-capacity terms when multiple events are held in the span of a week. True supply vs. demand issues. M'ville does not have that issue since there are very few places to stay overnight near the track. Charlotte also doesn't have that issue as many major conferences and such schedule their times to be well away from racedays. But you brought up another very good point: Parking! Why need to pay for parking in areas built for events?! I completely understand that in huge cities where parking is a premium need. But in rural settings, like most NASCAR tracks, it should not be needed most of the time. I went to 1 race each year from 2015 to 2019 and there was only once that we paid for parking. We got there late and ended up on the north side of Martinsville. All the free lots were full and we paid $20 per vehicle to park on someone's private property. Not a problem the other 4 years I went to M'ville as we got into the free lots. For the Roval race at Charlotte in 2018, we still got free parking but had to walk about a half-mile to get to the track. But when I went to a Panthers NFL game in 2006, we had to pay for parking that was only a half-block from the stadium. I think it was $10, but it was right off the Interstate and right beside the stadium. I think we paid the same for parking in Cleveland in 2005 for the MLB game at (then) Jacob's Field to see the Indians play the Tigers. It was right across the street from the stadium. I didn't have that problem in 2013 when I went to St. Louis b/c we had a hotel room close enough to walk to Busch Stadium for the baseball game. Hotel prices weren't too high b/c we were there for the USPS National Rural Letter Carriers Convention and they gave special rates. Probably still higher than normal, but lower than they should have been for a massive national convention coming to town. There are lots of things to take into consideration when it comes to sporting events and time to get there and return is my main one. But if I have a long-term trip planned, I will take full advantage of getting to a sporting event or location in that area. That's how I got to the baseball game in Cleveland and to Cooperstown in the same trip a few days apart. If I'd had an extra day in the itinerary, I'd have gotten to the NFL HOF in Akron, OH too.

From my own personal experience.
1 I used to go to up to 10 races a year in the 90s, but the first time I took my wife to Daytona was 2001. Both of us were lifetime Dale Earnhardt fans. That took a lot out of the sport for both of us. Over the next two years we still went to a few races and even went back to Daytona in 2003, but they were never the same. Then having to move out of the VA /NC area we didn't have but one track within 4 hours of us nstead of 4. With the Covid shut downs last year, I found myself for the first time in probably 15 years paying attention to th epoints and what was going on instead of just watching 3 or 4 races during the year. This year my wife has been paying more attention when I watch a race.
2 Pricing One of the biggest gripes we had in the 90s was that NASCAR became more geared towards the corperate fan instead of the fans that hda been there all along. My tickets to Atlanta for the final race each year would go up $10 a year per ticket. The Daytona 500 would go up $5 per ticket each year. While smaller tracks like richmond and Martinsville almost never saw a price raise.
3 Changes Fox didn't bother me, but some of Fox's gimmicks did. If you watch hockey Fox did this for every sport (the glowing puck). Rev it up was and is still idiotic to me. I have never cared for the chase. Now I always felt that they needed to have some kind of elimination from the chase and was happy to see them go to that. But watching that last race at Phoenix last year was sorry to say the least. The 4 drivers left went to the front and it seemed like the rest of the field was not allowed to race them. Which made for a boring race at one of the better tracks.

I believe part of the reason why the chase was made was that they wanted drivers to win more when in 2003 Matt Kenseth won the Championship with only 1 win
I think stage racing is better for some tracks, but worse for others, and about FOX, I honestly don't mind Jeff in the booth
And about the final four race, I feel like every driver should have a shot at winning, and the drivers in the Final 4 should have to earn the championship with every car being allowed to race them

They raced at the front the whole time.....
Missing that for years.....
Glad to see another long time driver win their First.....
Not sure what happening with some of the big teams, go from fighting at the front,
to just trying to stay on the lead lap....
