If that were to be done at Daytona or Talladega, there might not be a single car
available to finish the race.
Reading through driver comments about testing the car, you could get that opinion, no matter how the race starts....
Though wouldn't see that happen at Day or Tall, since you get a lot of fast cars that fall to the rear during the races anyways.....

So putting fast cars at the back would cause more wrecks. How does that differ more or less to watch we have now?

Seeing how Larson and Elliot had several bad starts/problems during races...
It goes all against saying fast cars starting in the rear are more likely to be wrecked...
If it was the case, then getting a speeding penalty during pits, drivers should just park at that point....
Plenty of fast cars have recovered and won/finished top 5....

I think you 2 completely missed my point! I didn't say that the fast cars starting at the back creates wrecks. My point was that the slowest cars starting up front will create wrecks. Do you really want to see Spire and LiveFast cars in front to start a race?! Absolutely not, for me! ALL cars or teams can have a problem on a restart, but you don't want cars leading any race when they are 10-20 mph slower than the cars behind them. That's a massive wreck in the making! Keep the slow cars behind the fast ones. There is a reason the are slow and they will not be able to hang with the faster cars. Put them in position close to the fast cars and wrecks are going to happen and it takes out the cars worthy of winning the race.

nt! I didn't say that the fast cars starting at the back creates wrecks.
IIRC, 95% of major wrecks at Daytona and Talledaga in the '90s, occurred between the
fastest cars, running in the top 5....... Earnhardt alone was wrecked around 6 times while leading....
In 2021, slower cars that didn't pit, split up the field as they fell back, but don't recall any wrecks because of them.......

That doesn't make semse at all, 99% of the wrecks caused at Daytona and Tall. ARe caused by the fastest cars and blocking, Saying the slow cars at the front would cause more wrecks is ludicrous. Why do you think there is usually a guy who isn't a front runner, Wins these. Cause the fast guys have already taken each other out.

Did Thanksgiving Day become Ignorance Day?! You 2 have twisted everything I've posted since the season ended to just make this thread become ridiculous. I never said that the fastest cars don't wreck at the front of the field. I said that the slowest cars being at the front WILL wreck everyone. It doesn't matter what track they are at if the slowest cars start in the front. That is just stupid and a big waste of money. I'm done holding my tongue now...
Bolo - you are a dipsh** that knows practically nothing about racing. If I'm wrong, prove it with an intelligent post for once!!!
Shaw - NASCAR racing is different than your backyard Canadian races. That is NOT a reply about nationality, only about different types of racing. There are plenty of racing series' where the fastest cars do start at the back. NASCAR is not one of them and I don't think it should ever be one of them. Indycar, F1, IMSA, SuperV8 and many other series' do NOT put the slowest cars at the front of the field for exactly the same reasons I said before. As for the "guy who isn't a front runner, Wins these", it's because he wasn't the front-runner in the first place. If that slow car was the "front-runner" he'd get wrecked out even faster and take out even more cars because he doesn't know how to TRY to avoid extra collisions. Michael McDowell didn't win the D500 this year JUST because he wasn't in the front or because he had the best car. He just dodged the most wrecks and survived the carnage. He has always been a good driver and he put himself in position to win that race. Bubba Wallace won the Talladega race in the Fall with the nearly the same strategy. He WAS one of the fastest cars all day and used that speed and skill to put him in position before the caution came out due to a wreck that was immediately followed by rain. Putting the slowest cars in the field at the front is just stupid and I don't understand why anyone thinks that is a good idea.

I thank you for acknowledging you lost the debate ........
For decades, before the changes that prevented "Racing to the Yellow Flag".....
Lapped cars started alongside the leaders during restarts..... Yes, some of those were because of badly timed pitstops...
Though most were "Slow" Cars....
There were very few wrecks because of slow cars... Which could be pinned on over aggressive drivers in fast cars...

Exactly it wasn't the slow cars fault it was someone driving over their heads and causing the problem. There is a reason why they have spotters on the roof. Maybe they shod try it to teach some of these guys respect. Cause they don't seem to care about ripping up theirs and others fast cars.
