Stories/reports that Dodge may return to NASCAR.....
IMHO, 2022 would be hard to accomplish.....
Report from Ford several years ago, they were moving away from Cars...
I guess that meant focus on Trucks and EVs, but that hasn't materialized yet....
So could we see Ford depart NASCAR.....

That statement came out 4 or 5 years ago.....
Then we ended up with an Electric Mustang SUV.....
A number of statements from car companies the last few years...
Mainly Audi going electric only, then Chevolet or GM in the next 5 years.....

The only thing about the #4 Lionel diecast that was odd to me was having Gear Wrench as the sponsor. They've been with Ganassi for quite a while and with Kurt Busch since he joined the team. I'm a little surprised they didn't follow him over to 23XI Racing or at least stick with the #1 car over at Trackhouse now.
I don't see Ford ever leaving NASCAR. I also don't see them ever NOT making Mustangs. They can drop every single "car" they ever made from production, but the Mustang will still be around. As for Dodge returning, I haven't heard anything about that. But it would be nice to see them return. If they did, the Challenger would be the car they use. The Charger would be good too, but that's what they used when they were last in NASCAR. I think they would go back to the Challenger if they come back in. And yes, it would definitely be 2 more years before they return b/c of the Gen7 car coming in 2022. If they come back, I see Petty switching to Dodge. But I think Dodge would need a major team to switch over for them to come back into NASCAR. Maybe they start with NXS though and there are a couple of teams that I think would switch. You know that HMS/JRM and RCR will not leave Chevy and JGR/23XI will not leave Toyota. But Kaulig and JDM might. Spire, Live Fast and Trackhouse might as well. It would be interesting if any level of NASCAR added another manufacturer again.
As for this thread lasting the entire season: I've enjoyed it all year long. It's long enough to make the voting for TCDB 2021 Thread of the Year and it will certainly get my vote! It would be awesome to see a racing thread win Thread of the Year!!!

I am voting on it as well for thread of the year. I was listening to a NASCAR channel today and not only is there talk of Dodge being back in next 2 years but also Honda. This would really piss people off. LOL

Honda in NASCAR?! That would be odd, but funny to me. I don't think they've ever been in NASCAR. There have been about 30 different manufacturers in NASCAR since the beginning, but I don't think any Honda model was ever one of those cars. It wouldn't piss me off at all. I'd love to see NASCAR have more than 3 types of cars or trucks on the tracks. Honda does pretty well in other types of racing, so I see no reason that they shouldn't try their hand at NASCAR. A lot of NASCAR fans were PO'd when Toyota joined too, but I wasn't one of them. I was more upset when Dodge left than I was about Toyota coming in. I like to see a variety of cars on the track, but not like trying to watch IMSA races when you don't know what car is battling what other car for position. As long as NASCAR never starts running multiple levels of cars on the track in the same race, I'm fine with more different manufacturers. It does get a bit boring at some races where you have the 20+ Chevys beating down the 5 Toyotas and the dozen or so Fords, especially at 'Tona and 'Dega. Even up the entire field a bit and I think that makes for more entertaining racing. That is kind of what the Gen7 car is supposed to do but it will still be hit or miss by manufacturer at first. I expect the beginning of 2022 to be a lot like the first season of the COT. One maunfacturer will figure it out first and run extremely well for a while as the others try to catch up. Then it will be more even across the field by the end of the season.

One thing for sure, WE will find out who the best drivers are and who can adapt to the cars the fastest. I have never been so excited for a year to get started.

Totally agree with you! I can't wait to see how 2022 starts with the new cars!!! But I do hope the 2022 season also leads to having practice and qualifying again. Not having them has killed me in fantasy games for the past 2 years.
