We now have 10 official team managers with room for more. Deadline to request a league invitation (via PM to me) is Sunday, February 28th at 11:59 pm Pacific.
If team managers are good with these, there's a good chance that we may adjust some league settings to make the league a bit more interesting:
- Team managers might be grouped into two divisions
- Reduce "Max Acquisitions per Week" from 6 to either 4 or 5
- Add one more Batting Category such as (Total Bases or On-base Percentage or something else?) and one more Pitching Category (Quality Starts or Holds or something else?)
- Increase the # of IL (Injured List ) spots on each roster from 4 to 5
Below are three possible plans I came up with for prize distribution. For argument's sake, we'll assume here that we end up with 10 teams in the league and each card contributed to the prize pool is a baseball card that has a $10 ebay sold value (like almost everything else, this can change). Think of the three plans as discussion starting points. Starting Monday (March 1), team managers will discuss and adjust prize plans in the league's Yahoo message board until we settle on one prize plan for the league.
Prize Plan 1 (Small prize pool, top 3 finishers win prizes)
Each team manager contributes one card (10 total cards in the prize pool). Prize distribution could be as follows:
1st Place wins five cards from the prize pool.
2nd Place wins three cards (to be selected after 1st Place has selected their five cards).
3rd Place wins the two remaining cards (to be selected after 2nd Place has selected their three cards).
Plan 2 (Medium prize pool, all four playoff teams win prizes)
Each team manager contributes two cards (20 total cards in the prize pool). Prize distribution could be as follows:
1st Place wins eight cards from the prize pool.
2nd Place wins six cards (to be selected after 1st Place has selected their eight cards).
3rd Place wins four cards (to be selected after 2nd Place has selected their six cards).
4th Place wins the last two remaining cards.
Plan 3 (Large prize pool, top five teams win prizes)
Each team manager contributes three cards (30 total cards in the prize pool). Prize distribution could be as follows:
1st Place wins 14 cards from the prize pool.
2nd Place wins 7 cards (to be selected after 1st Place has selected their 14 cards).
3rd Place wins 5 cards (to be selected after 2nd Place has selected their seven cards).
4th Place wins 3 cards.(to be selected after 3rd Place has selected their five cards)
5th Place wins the last remaining card.
Keep in mind, the more teams we have in the league, the more cards there will be in the prize pool. The draft is tentatively set for Saturday, Mar 27 5:30 pm Eastern (2:30pm Pacific).
