Recently came into possession of a still sealed, gem mint, box of 1987 Boston Red Sox chewing gum. Wondering with all the trading card market hype right now if a PSA 10 box of gum would command a premium both for its vintage and superior condition!

I was at a card show in 2003 and working on completing my 1973 Topps baseball set. A dealer had an unopened 7th Series pack of 1973 cards. I don't remember how much he was asking, I think it was $75. (Remember you had a chance of getting a Mike Schmidt rookie card.) I walked by later and a gentleman was purchasing the pack. Several of us watched him open the pack, no Schmidt, and then stare at the stick of gum. A friend of his dared him to chew it. 30 years old. He popped it in his mouth and started chewing. He claimed it tasted exactly as he remembered it as a kid.
I did purchase several 5-6? "pack fresh" cards from him for I think $3 apiece. I was happy and he recouped a few dollars on his gamble.
I think 30 year old gum would be my maximum time limit on a taste attempt.

The 87 vintage has wonderful notes of lavander that remind me of a spring day. The tounge feel is just right and there is a nice tangy citrus finish.

I couple of years ago, I bought a wax box of 1981 Topps Scratch Offs. Each pack had a stick of gum in it. It was in a wrapper so as not to affect the cards. I haven't tried the gum, but I saved them.

I don't see the gum listed as an insert in the 81 Topps Scratch-Offs. But if we ever find a trade I'm going to try to remember to ask you to throw a piece in the deal.

I have made the mistake of trying to chew gum from the 70s and 80s packs. It is always breaks down in to little sharp pieces as I try to chew.
