Congratulations on your diet classes. My type 2 is very similar to my program of recovery. It has evolved into a lifestyle. Learning portion control was difficult for me since the word moderation was not in my vocabulary. It gets easier to manage as time goes on.

Darrell, I'm with ya bro. Once my wife saw my blood test, action jackson ahead. My number was 6.5 before doing anything, I believe I have diabetes lurking, eyes, fingers, toes etc. Probably need a monitor, probably should shed a few pounds. Glad you are actively working on this, too many don't and then it's too late.
BTW: Did your doc prescribe meds? Which one?
Take care, Stay Well, ~bob~

Stay well Darrell! My sister moved back here to PA recently and she has been dealing with diabetes as well as other issues. Me and Mrs Gunny have been taking care of her dietary needs and actually gotten her medication reduced. Me and the wonderful Mrs Gunny just sat down and talked about portion size and the need for fresh not pre-packages or frozen foods. We also cut out regular pastas and white rice for sister, replaced them with whole grain versions.
Take care budzo all the best to you and yer family.

Wishing you and yours well in the days and weeks ahead from someone who recently went through and continue with the recovery process, especially in these trying times. Stay safe.

It is with a sad heart that I am making this statement but as of today the hobby has taken a hard stop. Life has caused too many issues in this household that I can no longer enjoy what I once did. Please understand that if I could Id stick around but it has been made abundently clear I have decisions to make. I may pop in from time to time but as for now all I can say is farewell. 2020 won. No need to reply as there is nothing that needs to be said. Thanks.
Darrell

Today we head out into Covid infested waters, tomorrow and Thursday my son has several appointments in Saskatoon for his newly discovered issues. We have MRIs and a CATscan booked for tomoorow at 8:15 and then an appointment with the uroligist and oncologist in the afternoon. Thursday will consist of full array of x-rays finding out if and any bone structure issues he has in his feet and legs, spine/neck and well everything really. These were all actions planned by the neurosurgeon before we go to any drastic measures. Better safe than sorry but on the flipside we need to know if there are other hidden surprises. Especially the head and skull. So for my birthday this year I dont want any presents, kudos or congratulations. Only several thumbs up from said appointments will make it worth while. I will let you all know about that chapter as soon as we do. Next up after that is a trip back on Dec 11th to possibly my final surgical checkup on my shoulder. Fingers crossed there as we ll as he has me prebooked for an MRI just "in case" there has been no further progress. Life continues and will regardless but as a guy creeping up on 50 (next year) I'm not suppose to be dealing with this crap yet!! LOL
