Glad to hear you are exercising the right. I took advantage of the advance polls last week. Not important to know who but that you are voting. I didn't need to know who you cast your ballot for. I do have a party affiliation but did not vote along that line as I felt there was a better candidate in my riding. Interestingly we will not know who wins the majority of the ridings tonight when the polls close because of the number of mail in ballots. look forward tot the results.

Good for you to vote, indeed. I agree that it would probably not be wise to share who one votes for, as it'd probably be best to keep politics out of what looks to be a relatively harmonious community centered around the fun activity of card collecting. Plus, since we're of different countries, one may or may not know everything about what it means to vote for one candidate/party versus another. I'd rather just let all that drama go to the pundits and not see any of it here... it's exhausting.

Fair points from other posts, but personally, I don't see the harm in matter of factly stating who you voted (or are voting) for. If you prefer to keep it to yourself, that's fine - I do too. But if someone wants to share it in a way that doesn't intend to provoke debate or argumentation, especially because they're proud of it, I see no harm in exercising a forum for it's intended purpose - community discussion.
I also don't want to see political debates on the boards, but I tend to think that we have an entire community here who doesn't, and as such would refrain from debating someone's view. After all, there is an "Off Topic" forum for a reason, which is where this thread has been appropriately started. And there was really nothing in the original post that would spark debate - just one man's opinion. We've managed to avoid any political posts (with the exception of maybe one or two that I can remember, anyway) for the entirety of my time here, which is quickly approaching six years. That means this is the second presidential election, and the fact that it's stayed off of the boards in debate form has made this site even more of a wonderful escape.
Just my two cents. Post whatever you like - as long as it stays within the forum guidelines.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

Bob...you are totally out of line on thi ssite. Keep this kind of crap out of a trading card site. Regardless of who you want to win.

Thru this entire pandemic; one thing has been great and that is sports cards and being able to have this community online for talking cards/trading cards/having some sort of connection to the outside world thru the world wide web. I can't imagine what this pandemic would look like for me without these pieces of cardboard or more so non cardboard card stock with the newer cards :) I do imagine this pandemic would be very very lonely without the ability to interact with everyone on this site. And I do also imagine the pandemic without the internet would have made it way less politics and the abiilty to just shut the TV off when one has had enough of politics. However; this isn't the case in 2020. This site has had one HUGE advantage over every other platform out there and that is that there is zero politics. We connect on the shared interest of trading cards. And it is GREAT! Until today... when this site also has politics on it if you're one like me that likes to check in on the main forums and interact with the community. I do hope this is a one and done thread here and we can not make use of the "off topic" forum to have politics flood the page over the next couple weeks. Everyone is fully aware it is important to vote. Everyone is fully aware of the reasons they are or are not voting for who they are or are not voting for. Hopefully we can get back to cards and if people feel the debate; who's winning the world series and why? ;)

It is true, this thread was started in the Off-topic forum and, thus, politics technically qualifies. However, politics is like religion in that if you don't have to bring it up while everyone is generally content, maybe one shouldn't. Think of it like you're sitting around the table for Thanksgiving (if you celebrate it, that is). I am not bringing up politics or religion if I can help it, as I just want to enjoy the meal and the company.
