We go into the 5th, Collins FO, Bauer FO, Berra HR, Mantle GO. 1 run. Hughes out of the game. 1 run, 3 hits 3 So, 1BB and 0-1 batting (SO).
Yes, it was 67 years ago today my Uncle pitched in the '53 World series.
Not a bad outing. He did not pitch again due to some personal reasons, as some of you know.
Walter Alston said the biggest decision he had to make was to let Jim Hughes go home.
