In the postal world, tracking is the most over-rated thing they "sell" at a huge cost especially out of country. I foundout from postal workers that the only thing it gives you is a way to see where the package is IF IT IS BEING TRACKED! If it gets lost, it does not give you anything other than where it was last known to be. Yes, if you can find someone in the postal workers who will diligently try to track down where it may be, at least they have a starting point. But it will take a dedicated person to do so as it is not going to be found in his backyard.
With over 500 trades with everything in size from PWE, Christmas cards to 800-ct boxes, nothing has ever been lost that I know of. I have only one trade that remains "Package Sent" by the other member but he has not logged on since about 2 weeks after I sent it out and that was a few months ago. So it will most likely remain there forever. I will say that there was one package where the member had paid for tracking that did get lost and was found with his persistence in inquiring at his post office, in a warehouse I believe in Atlanta, marked for auctioning off due to being undeliverable after being run over by a truck. It was returned to him, repackaged and delivered to me. The cards fortunately were not damaged.
If any of the trades I send out ever showed up as "Postage Due" I would like that the other member advise me of the fact. I would make up for it by sending more cards for "free". I personally have never had any show up here that way though I can say that the amount paid in postage for similar PWE has varied from a Global Forever stamp to $3.50.
