Calling all Scrabble ® enthusiasts in TCDb land.
Following a rather surprising response to my Cribbage - TCDb style contest a week ago I spent the past several days trying to formulate a contest involving the game of Scrabble ® . (I would rank the game as my second favorite after cribbage.) The following is an attempt to do that very thing:
1. Members would be invited to join by replying to this thread.
2. On or about 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 12, I will begin drawing letters from the tile bag beside me.
3. My intention would be to draw 7 tiles / entrant (tiles all replaced after each draw to enable everyone an equal opportunity at all letters)
4. I then plan to post 5 letters to everyones "rack" on a subsequent thread followed by sending the remaining 2 letters via a PM to each member.
5. Members will then have the option of "returning" a maximum of two letters (via a PM to me) to the bag and have replacement(s) drawn. This will take us to the end of day Saturday, June 13.
5. (a) per #5 ; if a member returns say 1 or 2 from his/her "rack" the replacement(s) will replace the "rack of 5" on the site.
5. (b) per #5 ; if a member returns 1 or 2 of the letters sent via PM then they will be returned likewise via PM
in other words your rack of 5 remains with 5 letters and your two mystery letters remain known only to you.
6. Beginning Sunday June 13 members are to submit there "best word" i.e. highest score.
7. Members are to follow the rules of the game as to words which are defined in the below link and as to word(s) formation. More can be found here...
https://scrabble.hasbro.com/en-us/rules
8. A good look at a board (if you don't own your own!!) can be seen here...

9. Scrabble ® letter values and quanities can be found here...
10. I have placed three words on a board which can be seen here...
https://www.tcdb.com/Profile.cfm/PapaG321
Members are to use this board as a starting point in the forming of there word(s) on Sunday for remittance.
11. In reporting your word(s) members are encouraged to use the board shown in point #8 above in order to determine the best place to postion their word(s).
12. In reporting, the member is asked to detail the position of their letters placed as per the following e.g 's
For example if member ABC has the letters Q,U,J,A,L,N, and E they could say... beginning on the Double Letter Square above the last E in Database my word is QUEEN .. Player would score 72 points...(Q is on double letter therefore worth 20 and each of the other 4 letter worth 1 each and the word on the Triple Word score .)
Another example could be player XYZ has the letters PSSNOIA they could say ... Adding an S to trading and the letters PAS before that and the letters ION after that (hence word would be passion). The letters in the word total 9 points (3 for the P and 1 each for the other letters) Th word actually crosses TWO Double Word Squares so be worth 36. Add to this tradings would score 10 more as well as a Bonus of 50 for a "BINGO" (using all 7 letters) Player would be awarded 96 points.
Hope all of the above is as clear as mud. Any questions can be asked and will be answered (to the best of my abillity!)
Oh and I nearly forgot the winner will receive 13 cards as per the number of "letters" in the current Hawaiin alphabet (a,e,i,o,u,h,k,l,m,n,p,w, and the Okina)
