I felt I would quote myself to respond to some comments on here. My train of thought remains the same, I'd rather they just cancel events then hold the events with no fans. The NBA I think was wise to suspend their season especially after the player tested positive. Maybe my choice of words "swiftly and impulsively" were not the best, but my point was more "either address the situation with all resources, don't half-a(donkey) it". Games without fans won't really prevent the spread of it. As someone mentioned on TV, the players still would have to travel to events and would still could come into contact with people who may have it. Also Gobert played in Salt Lake City, Boston, Detroit, and even New York the last two weeks, sometimes in arenas where hockey teams play too, so it can spread to other sports as well.
I commend the NBA for suspending the season. As much as I love the NCAA tournament and WWE's Wrestlemania, I would be sad to see the events cancelled, but I totally am fine if they cancelled the events. WWE has rumored to move their Friday Night live Smackdown event to their performance center in Orlando. They were scheduled to hold Smackdown in.... Detroit.
Fred Hoiberg felt ill today and still coached in an NCAA game before leaving the bench with minutes left. Could be something else, but for precaution, cancellation is probably the best bet.

This is getting kinda ridiculous. I understand precaution and such but all that's going on seems like overkill. This outbreak (now called a pandemic) is directly affecting my job. I've have all kinds of extra work to do now and I don't even get paid extra for it. This is worse than the precautions taken during the MERS outbreak a dozen years ago. The dialysis clinics now want us to mop the floors with disinfectant instead of a neutral floor cleaner. That's fine and I completely understand that. But they also want us to clean our mops by soaking them for 10 minutes every night in a bleach mixture! That is just STUPID! The disinfectant/viruside that we use will keep the mops clean by itself. If they want all that, we should just mop with the bleach mixture. As mopping is the last thing done at each account, I'm certainly not standing around doing nothing for 10 minutes soaking a mop. The funny thing is that they didn't mention something that I started doing Monday that helps even more than what they asked us to do. Instead of once per week, all of the doorknobs, auto-door buttons and light switches are being disinfected daily. How did they not think about that? Seemed like common sense to me, but maybe I've just been doing this job so long that it is common sense for me. My 20th year with the company starts in about a month.
There have been about 10 confirmed cases reported in NC so far. All of them in the Raleigh/Durham area about 1-1.5 hours from me. With Gov. Cooper instating an Emergency Declaration, I was informed today that, if needed, one of my clinics will become a quarantine area. Maybe I need to go get a full hazmat suit now.

March 11th, today's numbers are.
126,369 infected worldwide.
68,304 have recovered
Only 4,633 have died worldwide in two months and only 38 people have died in the USA
3,288 people will die in car crashes worldwide in one day, Everyday and every year this number goes up. More people have died in a car crash in two days than from this in 2 months.
You should be more afraid of being in a car than this. Don't believe the news they are not there to tell you the truth. They are there to sell gloom & doom to keep you watching. The only important thing on tv is the commercials. They pay the bills to keep the shows on.
here are the numbers that are updated every day and you can see the numbers in the states are very low.

It appears that Los Angeles and/or the entire state of California will be next to ban large public gatherings for who knows how long. I'm sure other cities/states will follow suit. This is part of the strategy to minimize the spread of the coronavirus and keep the number of cases/deaths low.

I wish they had taken these precautions in the 1918 epidemic. Thousands upon thousands of people died because they didn't- including at least 4 relatives that I'm sure on, and I believe a couple more we have not been able to find proof of yet. I know two professional hockey players who had been in the cancelled Stanley Cup final that year also died.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. Medicine and science base their beliefs on actual data, not the advice of anyone with a forum login. Remember to follow the advice of trusted leaders and experts and not the "knowledge" of people on this site who feel some need to share it here. Stick to baseball cards and keep your uninformed opinions to yourselves. Admin should delete this thread and any others on this topic. The world doesn't need more misinfornation.
And Rudy Gobert is a moron. Focus on other people who could be impacted and share science instead of your beliefs.
Stay safe BK!
