It depends on a couple of things, Shawn. Most likely weight for the extra ounce it's $0.15. If you choose to pay for them to bypass the sorter and make it "non-machinable", that's $0.15.

If the PO feels there's something rigid in the envelope they'll make it Non-machinable, + 15 cent surcharge.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I do all my PWE trades non-machineable for $.70. I know that up front and just make sure before I agree to a trade that it is worth it to me to spend the $.70 to ship the cards.

Similar here
Hard case makes it non machinable to me.
I do ship 3 pocket page with cards and do not charge machinable on those but I only do that on cards that are in lower condition to begin with

Ive been shipping mine with a 3 pocket page inside of thin cardboard and due to it being rigid it goes non-machinable. I would imagine that whoever is charging that in your post office has deemed your envelope to either be too rigid for standard mail or possibly over the accepted thickness for standard mail.

It doesn't do any good to argue with the people at the post office. Even if they are dead wrong, it's their job to know. It's like arguing with a stick.
