The 2020 HOF ballot was just released. Plenty of conversation to be had. Outside of Jeter (another unanimous vote?) there is plenty of yes/no debate called "Steroid Era".
Bobby Abreu, Josh Beckett, Heath Bell, Barry Bonds, Eric Chavez, Roger Clemens, Adam Dunn, Chone Figgins, Rafael Furcal, Jason Giambi, Todd Helton, Raul Ibanez, Derek Jeter, Andruw Jones, Jeff Kent, Paul Konerko, Cliff Lee, Carlos Pena, Brad Penny, Andy Pettitte, J.J. Putz, Manny Ramirez, Brian Roberts, Scott Rolen, Curt Schilling, Gary Sheffield, Alfonso Soriano, Sammy Sosa, Jose Valverde, Omar Vizquel, Billy Wagner, Larry Walker

Jeter is obviously a no brainer and should garner 100% of the vote in my opinion. Larry Walker may have a shot. He received a decent percentage last year plus this is his last year of eligbility on this ballot. It will be interesting to see if Bonds, Clemens, and Schilling see significant jumps or if they will continue to hover around 60%.

Now that the "Unanimous" seal has been broken, there's no longer an excuse for anyone considered a first ballot Hall Of Famer, including Jeter, to not go in on 100% of the ballots as well.
As for the rest, well....slim pickings. It'll be interesting to se how much of a bump the holdovers get now that there isn't a real backlog of desrving candidates.

Of the players in that list, I'd like to see Omar Vizquel get some more consideration. Maybe Scott Rolen, too.

As I've said before, I've given up on the steroid thing. So my ballot is: Jeter, Bonds, Clemens, Helton, Jones, Ramirez, Rolen, Sosa, Wagner, Walker.
I realize that Helton and Walker have the Colorado hitting boost, but they were fantastic and have multiple gold gloves to boot.
I think Andruw Jones is the shakiest vote of these, but he, too, has multiple gold gloves, and some huge numbers.
Rolen might be considered shaky, but he compares favorably with most other third basemen in the Hall and he was one of the best at his position during his career.
My prediction, however, is Jeter and...perhaps no one else, but a couple Veterans' Committee guys will have made it.
The steroid guys will have to wait until their last years of eligibility or perhaps wait for a veterans' committee vote someday.
And Pete Rose will have to wait forever, ridiculously.

At the risk of starting a Pete Rose debate (as it is that time of year again) please, Please, PLEASE read the Dowd report and then tell me how that man belongs in the Hall of Fame. He gambled on baseball. Not just on baseball, but he gambled on his OWN TEAM. Not every day, mind you, but only when certain pitchers were pitching. And he was the manager of the team, which means he can manipulate the decisions on how his players are used to impact the game more than any other person on the field. (Why use my best bullpen arms today? I didn't bet on this one. Let's save them for tomorrow when Soto is pitching, and then bet on that one!)
I understand that Charlie Hustle is the hero for a generation of Cincinnati (and Philadelphia) fans. I get it. But the only thing that could possibly be worse than a manager gambling on the game would be an umpire gambling on the game. What he did was reprensible and, in my opinion, unforgivable.
There was a simple rule put in place in 1920 that said if you gambled on baseball, you were banned for life. It's posted in every clubhouse, right outside the manager's office. HIS office. He clearly knew the rule and ignored it.

As a life-long biased Yankees fan, how cool would it be if the HOF welcomed Jeter, Pettitte, Mattingly, and Munson next year?

If I were to vote, Jeter would be the only one I am completely certain. I would give some consideration to Andruw Jones and maybe Paul Konerko, but I don't know if I feel this way just because they had long careers. I would also add Jay Buhner as a write-in, just because I am a life long Mariners fan and because I can LOL.

I would love to see Donnie and Konerko get in but they just dont have the stats. Donnie's peak years of 84-89 are pretty special (and I hear people mentioning peak years of being elite counting towards HOF) and his other years were respectable but I just dont see it happening. If he didn't get hurt, a shoe-in. I'm a White Sox homer and Konerko was a very solid player (436HR), just doesnt have enough to get in as a first baseman.
