I'll go ahead and post my story here too. I posted our entire transaction message in his feedback so everyone could see what really went on. He uses his number of trades as a holy grail and refuses to admit that there is any possibility that he could have made a mistake simply because, "I've done thousands of trades and it's never happened before". Then plays the victim like he's being screwed over. Here is our transaction --- it reads from the bottom up.
Message:
Me: You didn't notice the mark or you scammed me - those are the two possibilities. The card I sent to you is the one you sent to me. You're hiding behind your tenure and you claim that you are in a no-win situation but you screwed me whether you think you did or not. You won. I lost. Your failure to recognize that you made a mistake and your unwillingness to rectify the situation just means that you are bullheaded and stubborn. ___________________________________
49ants: Sent: Sun, 9/29/2019 11:23 AM Like I said before I am in a no win position have been a long time trader and would have noticed the stamp on front. So you can continue your attempts to get more than you traded for but it will not work on me.

Me: Sent: Sun, 9/29/2019 11:08 AM I hope that you have received back the card that you sent to me and have decided to do something about it. It doesn't even need to be the card that you initially offered, just something that swings the trade back to somewhat fair. I really would like to work this out and let you keep your overwhelmingly positive feedback intact. Please consider doing the right thing.

Me: Sent: Wed, 9/18/2019 4:02 PM Bravo. You made a lot of trades. Good for you. You messed up on this one. Why would I go through all this trouble if I didn't feel slighted? Deflecting from the issue by bringing up your track record is moot. At this point, I'm quite sure you don't plan on doing anything and are probably pleased that you got over on me and dumped that junk reprint.

Me: Sent: Wed, 9/18/2019 10:33 AM How many trades would it take for you to believe someone? I may have only a few but every single one has been exactly as advertised. I looked through your feedback and found someone who had a similar complaint as mine so it looks like you've been accused of cheating someone before. That speaks volumes to me. You'll see when that card shows back up at your doorstep. Whether you choose to believe me is out of my control but I know how honest I am --- I don't know you from Adam. Your standing on this site means nothing to me at this point. You made a mistake and I paid for it.

49ants: Sent: Wed, 9/18/2019 12:00 AM I would put more belief in what you are saying if you had more trades under your belt I will let my standing on this site talk for me

Me: Sent: Tue, 9/17/2019 11:55 PM And I am am even further in a no win situation because I know that what I gave you is what you asked for because I checked them twice before I packaged them. Your distrust of me at this point is equaled by my distrust of you. You think i might cheat you, but I know that I've been cheated so there we are. You're getting back the reprint card that you sent to me and you get to keep the cards that I sent without any reprisal and no way for me to recover anything should you be lying. Regardless of how long you've been trading, mistakes happen. This is one of them. There isn't any real way for you or I to prove who cheated who to an intermediary, but I know what I pulled out of that envelope.
49ants: Sent: Tue, 9/17/2019 6:40 PM Thanks but that still leaves me in a no win situation you send back a card that you say I sent but that I believe I didn't I have been trading for a long time and when it comes too older cards I always check to make sure they are in very good condition so I don't know how I could have overlooked the printing of it being a reprint.

Me: Sent: Tue, 9/17/2019 1:26 PM I've already dropped that card back in the mail to you as I couldn't figure out any way to prove to you that I wasn't trying to scam you. I have zero intention on cheating anyone here and I do actually believe you when you say that you didn't realize it wasn't his rookie card (aside from the glossy finish and the tiny little logo, it's a dead ringer). As it stands right now, I know that I gave you what you asked for but didn't get what I agreed to and can't really prove it so it sparks distrust on both our parts. Hence we are instructed to trade at our own risk and maybe this is a lesson learned that is quite discouraging. Anyway, I dropped the Ripken back in the mail today so you can see for yourself. On a side note I am actually happy with the other cards so thank you for them. ---Ford

49ants: Sent: Tue, 9/17/2019 11:40 AM I see myself in a no win situation if I believe I sent a reprint and offer you more cards to compensate the difference I lose if I return your cards and you agree to return mine I lose a Ripken rookie so I am not sure how to deal with this issue

Me: Sent: Mon, 9/16/2019 12:02 PM When I first pulled it out, I saw it was glossy and I thought, "Wow, I didn't know fleer did a tiffany like topps did but then I noticed the logo down on the right bottom corner that says, "Cal Ripken Jr. 1991-2001". I did a search and found that exact card in the link that I sent you earlier.

49ants: Sent: Mon, 9/16/2019 11:53 AM WOW I find that hard to believe since that card has been in my trade box for many years

Me: Sent: Mon, 9/16/2019 11:20 AM Uh oh. Everything is good except for the Cal Ripken 1982 Fleer. It isn't a 1982 Fleer card. It's a 2001 Fleer Career Highlights card --- https://www.tradingcarddb.com/ViewCard.cfm/sid/97422/cid/6792855/2001-Fleer-Cal-Ripken,-Jr.-Career-Highlights-Box-Set-41-Cal-Ripken-Jr. I truly hope that we can come to a resolution as this is not the card that was advertised in the trade.
