3 things
Today is my father's 77th birthday. My parents live in FL and we haven't had the chance to see them in a while. It was nice talking with them for a little while this afternoon, once we got back from....
My son finished another 2-day tournament (last weekend's didn't end so well) this weekend. Today's round didn't help his position, but he did finish in a 3-way tie for 6th place. 26 players finished, 2 withdrew after the first round and 1 didn't show on day 1. So 6th out of 29.
Third thing was also with my son. Since he's a junior in high school, a few weeks ago, he took the SAT. He got his scores back and he basically punched his ticket into 90-95% of the colleges in the US. (1420, first time taking it.) He'll take it again to see if he can pull up the 660 Verbal score (Math was a 760!). Still, an incredible score and will be a huge help to us.
Bonus 4th item - the work group I'm in at work that has been giving me tons of stress over the last 2 months will no longer have me to kick around within the next month or so. My boss saw what was going on, they tried to badmouth my efforts when it was actually theirs that needed severe improvement, she put a stop to the badmouthing and will remove me from them. They'll have a much more junior person working with them, and then they'll understand what they had and threw away. :) But in another month, I'll be cruising again. :)

Cool things to hear/read Dan, so congrats on all those points. Finestkind, I'm glad there was a peaceful and comfortable day for you to visit the grave. Any day visiting a grave is sad, but at least the weather didn't make it worse or force you to stay home.
Even with the remnants of a tropical storm passing through late last night and throughout the morning, it wasn't really a bad day weather-wise in central NC. The best part is that I got to relax on my only day off for the week. The Packers won their NFL game and the NASCAR race was really exciting late in the race. Plus, we REALLY needed that rain! The flash-drought was starting to get serious around here. And we welcome the rain that's forecast for Tuesday too. But I really do hope the rain stays away from here next weekend. I have tickets for the NASCAR race in Martinsville, VA and I want to see the race happen as scheduled. It SHOULD be great!

I actually completed one of the Metal Earth models! Those are really challenging. I've tried, and failed, to complete one of them in the past...keeping in mind I've successfully (err, somewhat) completed over 300 plastic models so it's not like I don't know anything about building models. But they've beaten me before. I even turned defeat into victory because I lost one of the pieces and was able to work around it- I actually thinks it looks better on the side without it. I will post a picture when I get some. Need the sun for it to really pop.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. The Yanks Lost. My nephew became a Navy Seal two months ago and is being deployed to somewhere in Asia in January. My daughter was just offered a golf scholarship and we are leaving for Florida in about 6 hours. Life is good.

I'll throw something in this thread. I got back at 10:00 EST last night after attending and participating in the wedding of one of my college teammates. In fact, all of the groomsmen has a baseball connection to Hannibal-LaGrange University, as four of us played with the groom, and the fifth one was one of our assistant coaches there.
A beautiful day at a beautiful venue in Blackwater, Missouri, and yet another instance where I can't help but marvel at the opportunities and relationships baseball has given a kid from a small town in Michigan. And of course it's always wonderful to see two of your friends enter into marriage together.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

My middle daughter got us us tickets for the Lions game yesterday vs the Vikings. Great day even with the obnoxious Viking fan behind us who trash talked non stop for the entire game. i think he even got to the minister sitting next to me. Surprised it took until the end of the game to threaten to kick his butt lol.

Needfulstuff congratulations to your daughter. What school will she be going to ? The navy asked our group in boot camp if anyone wanted to try out for the seals. No one said anything. They called us some not so nice names.
Jasongerman sounded like a great wedding.
Billy That's a awesome model. I can see why it's so hard to do.
Randylaw My wife had always said I don't play nice. If I had been there, there the guy would have fallen down accidently on purpose in the first quarter.
