My brother and I drove to Manhattan yesterday, and had car trouble. Then we got to within sight of the garage when the car shuttered and turned itself off. It's an hour and a half ride and would have been very dangerous to break down in Manhattan or the Bronx as we use the Henry Hudson Parkway, Saw Mill Parkway and Interstate 87...all high speed roads which in many places had no area to pull over.
Luckily we were able to home safely, with an assist from our mom coming to get us.
Our garage guys are going to come into work and find my brother's car waiting for them, hopefully it's an easy fix...we think it's a clogged fuel line or filter. It started acting funny after a stop at a different gas station then he normally uses.
The ride home from Garrison when we really started losing power was a bit scary, I must admit...
But we got home safely, and that is something to really be thankful for!

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. Chuck - SOOOOOO glad your wife is doing well!
Adam - I had no idea your work was healthcare related. That is very cool.

So.... Make the score 5-0 ! as in now 5 granddaughters and (still) 0 grandsons with the birth of our 5th grand child. Seems as though the deck is stacked against us thus far. Mom and baby (7lb.6oz) both doing fine and seeing as our daughter(s) is / are both RN's they've seen this before many times... Wishing everyone the best of the season and hopefully a happier and better New Year as well.

Glad You made it Home safely Billy! It can be spooky getting stranded in unfamiliar places. Found myself in that situation several times in my decades of serving in the military. I always made in Home safely and was especially glad that most of My Comrades made it Home as well. The one or two that did not was a heartache, that does hit me from time to time . . .

There was a baseball card show on Saturday, 12.21. (It's held approximatly every couple of months.) I haven't been able to go to the last 2-3 of them for a variety of reasons. My son has been "encouraging" me to start working on my 1961 Topps set again (instead of just buying more and more Royals cards). I got there about 10:00 and was the last customer in the Hall at closing, 3:00. A lot of fun and 55 new cards added to my '61 set. My "big" purchase was a really nice Clemente #388. I also found a nice Ernie Banks Sporting News and got a (rough) Mantle MVP card for a good price. It was a lot of fun, as I think most everyone on this site can relate to. At work this morning several people asked if I had a good weekend. When I said yes, I went to a baseball card show, they don't really have a clue.
Wishing everyone here a very Merry Christmas. Enjoy the holiday season.

spazmatastic I'm glad to see that you take your work so seriously. In the past 10 years I worked at a biomedical company owned and run by the University of Massachusetts in Boston. And for a pharmacuetical company (Biogen) Their claim to fame was that, they are the only school or university in the country that has a Food and Drug Administration licence to produce pharmacueticals. I didn't know squat about any of it before working there. It's a state owned facility. They anaswer to the FDA and not the university. So the wasted loads and a nd loads of money and didn't have to answer for it. I took it all in as on the job training to get a better paying job with Biogen. I liked both jobs, because I felt I was helping a lot of people in a small way.
