That really sucks with 3 different types! My grandfather's is only one type. It was initially every 2 hours but has stretched out. His came from developing Shingles last year and it started on his forehead. It spread over a good portion of the top half of his face. The drops were really to protect his eyes from his eyelids scratching them. I now know what Terry Bradshaw was talking about in all those Shingles commercials he did a while back. My eyes are watering a bit JUST typing this about eye issues!
I'd be one of those "impossible..." people too Chuck.

The entire reason I live with my Mom now is to take care of my granddad when she's out of town. I initially moved in to take care of her after she was horribly burned in a propane explosion. After her recovery, he had to move in with us when a hurricane made his house un-livable. He generally took care of himself for the first few years, but then things went downhill. He'd certainly be in a nursing home for the past 5+ years if it wasn't for myself and my younger brother staying here to help Mom. He might end up at one soon anyway b/c of his mental issues.
Pretty much all of my dealings with animal excrement were domesticated animals (mostly dogs/cats). Kittens and puppies always cause problems at first. I also had an old cat many years ago that had problems due to kidney failure. He had to wear a diaper and that was not a pleasant pet to take care of for quite a while. It did help prepare me to take care of my sister's children when she moved in with us for a while after she left Navy active duty. One of the funniest gross things I've ever experienced in my life was my niece telling me "how Mommy does it" when I changed her diaper for the 1st time. I really hope the last diaper I ever change was the last one I did for my niece (and it wasn't that first one). My Mom had a horse for about a year, but it was stabled elsewhere so I really never had any dealings with it. I'm NOT cleaning up after a horse! She does have the property for one or two with some slight modifications to the "barn". I doubt she does that any time soon though, but maybe after she retires. I don't want to be here if that happens.

I have no need for laser eyes, but if my eyes could see infrared, thermal or X-rays, I'd be cool with that. If my own eyes need work, I'd prefer the Geordi La Forge visor from Star Trek: The Next Generation! I'd miss having human visual range, but the extended range of light he could "see" would be awesome.

Her follow-up exam: the first eye healed perfectly. Everything looks so good that the doctor says this eye won't need the second (corneal transplant) operation. Next month...the other eye.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

That is GREAT news Chuck!
I had all kinds of crazy news tonight at work. Some bad at first and then it was good b/c it turned out to be nothing important. And then I got some news that was both at the same time. The bad part is that the day after Christmas will not be good for me as I have to work and can't start until well after my normal time. But the good news is that I can now start early on Christmas Eve and make it to my Aunt's house for the extended-family Xmas Eve dinner. I'll be a little late, but at least I can make it for a couple of hours. I haven't been able to make it to the Xmas Eve dinner for the last 3 years b/c of work! While I got to see most of the people that will be there back at Thanksgiving, I haven't seen my other Aunt and her husband since Mother's Day b/c they live in the mountains (about a 4 hour drive) and this year was their Thanksgiving with his parents. I have talked to her through emails, but that's not the same as a face-to-face conversation.

Thanks for bring this topic back up guys. I'm glad to hear that you wife's operation went good. Sorry you have to work that night. What kind of work do you do ?
The only good new I have recently is, I got out of the hospital after a month from an emergency surgery from an intestinal blockage. My bowels shut down or go to sleep as the dr said. No food for 3 weeks except by iv's. Grown men do cry from the pain. It's just going to keep happening because of scar tissue that grows agagin and again around my intestinal area.

That really sucks Dave. It's good that you are back home now though. I hope you get to enjoy some time with family this coming week!
I'm a sanitation specialist for a commercial cleaning company. Two of my 4 accounts are dialysis clinics that run 6 days a week. For those employees to get a holiday off (mostly only Thanksgiving and Christmas), they have to work the Sunday before the holiday to run the patients or double-up and run 2 days worth of patients in only one day. If they work, I have to work (unless I want to actually work ON those holidays and I do not). It sucks for the final month or so of each year, but it's not really bad the rest of the year. It's worth it though. If I don't do my job, other people can't do theirs safely and then the patients can't be treated and that could quickly lead to death for them. Those 2 clinics are almost 80% of my work and paycheck, so I have to take extra care to keep them. Of the 103 regular patients at those 2 buildings this year (not including visiting patients, temporary patients or recently admitted patients), only 3 have passed away in 2019. One was in his 80's and the other 2 were in their 60's. That is a fantastic rating for treating kidney failure or kidney diseases. My newer clinic just opened in Jan. 2018 and is rated 5-stars by the Medicaid/Medicare System and the one I've been working for since 2006 is a 4-Star Clinic (more patients and in an old building). When the state does annual inspections of these clinics, my job is also part of that inspection and I've never failed or even gotten a reprimand or return visit, even when other portions of clinical measures does get a return inspection! And the company that sub-contracted it to us inspects all clinics annually as well. I aced them at both clinics again this year. So much so that I didn't even know they inspected mine b/c an improvement checklist was not left behind after the inspections.
I work completely alone and I feel like my job is for people to never question me or what I did. They know I was there even without seeing me. I'm the "ghost in the night" that makes the place perfect for the next day of people working to extend other peoples' lives. I also have a close connection with the Bio-Technician that keeps the machines and chemical systems running properly. I know about machine or system leaks before he does and since it also adds more work for me, I let him know when these failures start to happen. I know so much about how the systems work that I even know how to shut down major problems before they screw up the entire next day of treatments and then call him to tell him what I shut down. I know so much about them that DaVita Kidney Care (formerly DaVita Dialysis) tried to hire me as a bio-tech about 10 years ago. I refused b/c that is a 24-7 on-call job and I'm REALLY glad I did now. They are stretched so thin in the bio-tech area that they have the same person covering almost a dozen clinics at one time. There are only 4 bio-tech's covering 8 local counties now and one of them is new and constanting needing help from my B-T. My county now has 5 sites alone and I'm still cleaning the original one, plus the next-to-newest one. I have cleaned alone and then trained someone in 4 of the 5 in the county. The newest one opened in August and I haven't even seen it. But it's 45 minutes from my house, so there's a good chance that I never will in official business. I love my job and take great pride in what I do. If my clients get good grades from the state and the upper-tier is happy with what I'm doing, I'll keep all my accounts and keep my work schedule steady. Besides the new dialysis account being only 1.5 years, I've had the rest of mine for 12-16 YEARS each!
