My Canadian friends, if you were to purchase from me and paid via PayPal. What fees would you be hit with?

I just made a sale to a fellow Canadian and he's saying PayPal hit him with $4 extra for the change in currency and an added fee. What could that have been?

I looked at my statement. And no extra charges or fees. Just the currency exchange rate.
I only get hit with fees is on selling.
However, note that my Paypal is set up as a business account.

Ok, I just realized from another friend that when PayPal is used to send money to a friend (to avoid seller's fees) then the sender gets hit with a fee. And that's what happened.

According to the PayPal website, depending on the payment method, either $2.99 or $2.99 + 2.9% of the amount.
I know ranfordfan had to pay a fee when he sent me money via PayPal.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Paypal friends and family has zero fees, If you are selling an item then its classified as goods/service and has about a 30 cent plus 2.9% it also includes buyer/seller protection so if the card never shows up you can get refunded, no such protection with friends/family. Also note with goods/service, item must have tracking in order to be protected as the seller.

zero fees for friends and family on either side, its like handing someone a crisp bill. I have family members send me money for the phone bill every month. There is no protection to it, which is ok in my situation, but if when there is tangible item with someone I've never met, then I prefer goods/service and seller has to pay the fee.

PayPal has international fees for Friends & Family sending money across borders.
