A man has to have goals — for a day, for a lifetime — and that was mine, to have people say, "There goes Ted Williams, the greatest hitter who ever lived."

Only man in 4 teams Halls, or whatever of Fame:
Reds, Orioles, Indians, Nationals. First three include a stadium statue.
Joined Nolan Ryan as only three time retired number honorees, only one though with the same number across the board with #20 as a Red, Oriole and Indian.

I just saw this. Very sad, as he was one of the true elite players of the game. I don't think he got enough credit for being the first black manager in the MLB.

And here I was a bit upset that we lost Bob Friend....
Great player, good manager, seemed like a good person. Rest in Peace, Mr. Robinson.

He and Brooks were two of my favorite players growing up and seeing the Orioles win the WS. I remember trading a ton of 71 Topps and probably my lunch on the school bus for 1 '71 of each of them.

Sad day.
An eerie sort of irony, or coincidence, is the "write one" post for the Random Card of the Day features an Expo player (from 1990s though)

Finally honored in the last couple of years by Cleveland, with a number retirement, induction into the Indians’ Hall and a statue out in Progressive’s Heritage Park.
