Thinking about Crazie Joe’s thread about stamp collecting got me thinking. Besides hockey cards I collect Yu-Gi-Oh cards and coins. Much like my collecting one of every Ottawa Senators player cards my coin collecting started recently. One day while at Billings Bridge mall there was an antique show and one of the tables was coins. It got me really me interested because I had been keeping coins in my piggy bank. So I purchased a few coins albums which I started using. First was Canadian coins. Then later on was American quarters. But enough about me. What does everyone else collect besides cards, and stamps?

I dabble in or have dabbled in a bit of everything: comics, foreign currency, precious metals, Buddhist amulets, beer signs, tobacciana, wines, art. Cards always seem to bring me back, others seem more of a passing fancy.

Heh...a better question would be what I DON'T collect.
- Cards
- Comics
- Automobilia
- Diecast cars
- plastic models
- coins
- currency
- stamps
- pens
- magazines
- books
- action figures (mostly retired)
- Photographs
- keychains
- literally anything else that interest me. I'm a hoarder and proud of it.
I also want to collect license plates but don't have the space and money. I would collect real cars if I could. (no garage, no money, no physical ability to maintain them)
My Fotki- which is linking on my profile- is my website where I document my collections.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. Like Billy, I collect all kinds of stuff. Anything sports-related is in my collection: cards, stamps, figures, photos, hats, keychains, coins, stickers, clocks, lights, die-cast vehicles, shot glasses and so on. I also collect certain actual coins (foreign coins, US States Quarters, US Parks Quarters, US Presidental Gold Dollars). I still have all of my comic books from my childhood/teen years but don't actively collect those now. I do collect anything related to the TV shows "The Simpsons" and "Star Trek" (any series or movies but mostly TNG). I also collect the "squished pennies" from places I've been (or copper slugs in Canada). pennycollector.com will show you tons of places to find these machines. I have a 36-coin book with only 2 slots empty now and one "coin" is a slug from Niagara Falls, Canada. I don't travel much, but I'm always on the look-out when I do travel. I also collect shot glasses from everywhere I've visited.
To end this reply, I also like astronomical and meteorological items and odd lights/lamps from the past. By meteorological items, I mean stuff like Galileo thermometers and Capt. Fitzroy's Storm Glass. For lights and lamps: I have some I can't describe from the 1970's but also includes Lava Lamps, Strobe Lights, Lumin Disks and so on.
So I'm not sure if I'm a collector of lots of specific things or a hoarder of all kinds of stuff. I truly have a "jack-of-all-trades" type of collection, but I love every bit of it.

Wayne, have you heard of the wheresgeorge.com site? It's a tracking site for bills, listed by members of the site. Most of the bills I've found stamped are $1 bills but some $5's and $10's. It used to be pretty popular, but not so much the past 5 years or so. I used to check every bill that came my way with a stamp to see where it came from and where it had been. I never did any stamping myself, but did log every pre-stamped bill that I acquired. The site still operates but I don't think there are as many stampers now.

I collect stamps, postcards, maps and travel brochures, Kentucky Derby souvenir mint julep glasses, and books. A little bit of railroad-related stuff, but I am not allowing myself to go far enough with that to truly be a collection. That stuff can get real expensive. I often pick up a souvenir magnet or ink pen of places I go, or a pint glass at a restaurant I eat at, but those collections are very limited because I have to go there and buy it there. Presidential and political items too (anybody else have a picture of Spiro Agnew on your wall? I have two). A few assorted vintage photos. I enjoy most of these things more than cards, because these collections are intentionally kept small.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I used to be heavily into collecting comics as well as cards. However comics kinda went by the wayside in the late 90s as well with card collecting. In the mid 2000's I came back to card collecting but newer comics never really recaptured my interest. Another nice little collection I have is of various hockey sweaters and soccer shirts and hats from many different sport teams and non sport subjects.

My wife has a substantial vinyl LP collection. She has been collecting these even before they came back into style in recent years, and the growth in the popularity of LPs recently has driven up the prices much to her shagrin.
