From what I can tell there is a series of books from Scholastic called "Myth-Men: Guardians of the Legend" published mid to late 1990s (starting in 1996) that include trading cards with them. They seem to be comic books or books with pictures geared for late elementary school aged kids. Don't know how many cards per book or total in series, but seeing some covers they say "trading cards" plural. Seems to be at least 6 books. Possibly the books have been reprinted as well.
