And when in Philadelphia, you say "Eagles" and everyone knows who you're talking about, but there are several Eagles teams all over the world so we have to be specific in the database. Please familiarize yourself with the rules and guidelines for checklist creation and submission (found in the Permissions section).

Regardless of local nomenclature or what's on the cards, the teams specified in the database need to meet the names already here (or will need to be consistent with teams already here) to facilitate linking of the current set along with any sets added in the future.

Since it's South Africa's national team, the team name used in the database will be "South Africa". Which already exists in Misc Sports under the Rugby Union category..

Springboks is already listed as a TID.  Should it be combined with the South Africa TID?

I would call them in the database "South Africa Springboks" 

To the card world,  when we think of Team USA we think of players coming from various teams to create the ultimate team. However as being to South Africa, (and my children having dual citizenship) Everyone there will just call them Springboks. We need to modernize the database for around the globe. "South Africa" can have many viewpoints and racial thoughts put inside that country name.  Things that we think is normal is not the way it is always someplace else.

New Zealand is known as the All-Blacks, yet we have them here as "New Zealand". Just like we do with every other country in every other sport. "Team USA" doesn't get a separate TID. "The Americans" don't get a separate TID. This is no different.

It should be "South Africa". And yes, FiresNBeers - they should likely be combined, assuming there is a South Africa Rugby TID already.

Also maybe just perhaps people from other places may start loading cards to trade for cards we have. 

No. The Database naming convention is that national teams for a country are named after the country. Plain and simple.

South Africa

New Zealand

Canada

There is multiple flaws with "The database naming convention" the mindset is the way we think in certain countries way. Then we apply that only to our thinking. Not how the thinking is elsewhere or how our way of thinking does not apply elsewhere. 

There is also problems within the database how can much and most of the world upload pics and guidelines that we need when much of the world only has a phone. They cannot own a computer 🖥️ because the cost is to great many places. we limit what can be accomplished.

"All Blacks" is already an alias for "New Zealand". Any "All Blacks" in the Team field links to "New Zealand".  All Blacks and New Zealand share TID 4274.

TIDs can have aliases, just like PIDs. I don't think this is applied very often to Teams, and it's something that only Admin can do, so it's really his discretion on if it warrants a TID "alias".

My point is that the name reflected in the Database, on a particular card, should be the conventional, standard name. In these cases, on this site, the national team of a country is the one that is shown on a particular card, no matter what fans or supporters, or even the organization itself may say is also an acceptable name.

We can have a baseball card with a TID "Red Sox", and manually link it to TID #4 so that it shows up under Red Sox cards, but that's not how the site is handling them either. There are proper ways to do things on here, and whether some members believe there are flaws with it or not, that doesn't mean that we shouldn't follow proper guidelines and procedures. 

The team on these cards in question, which we've gone completely away from, should be reflected as South Africa. If Admin wants to add "Springbok" as an alias of some type to enhance search features, that is his decision. I refuse to believe that anyone with one of these cards in their hand would not understand that "South Africa" is a valid team name, and if the fact that it isn't shown as Springbok stops them from contributing to or using the site, then so be it.

I will leave this discussion now, as I'm sure many will take exception to my tone.
