I submitted an IR to have a John Kruk variation added to the 1988 Topps Big Set. The card was an *B (asterisk B) variation of his card. I thought it was a simple request and even provided a link to COMC.com. I received a message back with links to A* & B* for this card (I have NO idea why?). The scan on the left shows all (4) variations for the 1988 Topps Big John Kruk cards. *B & B* & A* (the word "Company* obscured, and yes I know it can't get added, but I still count it). and A* (the word "Company" unobscured). Please add the card.
The 2nd scan is for another IR I submitted for the 1988 Kenner Starting Lineup Talking Baseball Set(s). I submitted a new John Kruk image for this set because the one on here was yellow looking. I never paid much attention to the set, but after entering the image (and the zoom-in feature activated) I realized this was not made by Kenner at all, but rather Parker Bros. The set name should be changed to " 1988 Parker Bros. Starting Lineup Talking Baseball ".

Same company; Kenner Parker Toys (KPT). Some cards have KPT copyright, some have Parker Bros. Starting Lineup was a Kenner line of toys.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Doesn't matter if Kenner was a subsidiary of Parker Bros. What matters is what's printed on the card. I remember taking the permissions tests here. Ex: Baseball player in Tigers jersey, Reds shown as Team name, what team should he be listed as playing for answer: Reds. Kobe & Lebron on card, card named as Kobe's card, who's card is it: answer Kobe. Those are the answers because that's what is printed on the card.
Nowhere on the card does it say Kenner. This is the same problem with 1992 Leaf Previews (and other sets), clearly states Leaf on these cards (front and back) and yet they are listed as Donruss..Clearly against the Site's own rules, but we do it anyway, and it throws the cards out of their natural sensible order.
If this is such a good idea then let's use these examples on the Permissions Test. I'm sure that the people taking it will know that the Talking Baseball cards are Kenner despite having Parker Bros. written right on the front of it and they surely would know that cards with Leaf printed front and back would be listed under Donruss. I doubt it, why, because it doesn't make sense.

How were these Starting Lineups cards released? Was it a game? I don't remember seeing them contemporarily as a kid and don't think I became aware of them until the internet came around.

C2 might think these came with the Starting Lineup action figures, which were indeed a Kenner product. But these are something different. These were part of a game. No action figures. Rather a stadium-shaped device that made your cartridges talk. And these cards were part of the game.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Not really sure Andy, came in team sets as part of a game, but I don't know if all team sets came in all games. And I have never seen the game they were supposed to be part of.
Now back to the fun, under the reasoning set forth by others why has none of the Topps Sets issued after August 2021 had their name switched to Fanatics on TCDB? You know Fanatics Flagship, Fanatics Update, Fanatics Allen & Ginter, and every other set? Please do not use my sensible argument, use your own and let's rename all Topps products released after August 2021 Fanatics on TCDB.

No, I don't think that. It's the name "Starting Lineup"; it was a trademark of Kenner. Kenner and Parker Bros. were owned by the same company. The parent company merged their Kenner Division and Parker Brothers Division into one division, Kenner Parker Toys. The product trademark associations didn't change. They were (Kenner) Starting Lineup cards inside a Parker Bros game.
