They don't look like anything that was inserted in card packs. There are only two shapes/sizes; one is square the other rectangle. And you can see the small tearaway remnants where they were attached to something or each other. Possibly on a sheet or roll.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I asked the seller and he simply stated that from his recollection they came in a set he got from his mother-in-law and that "she used to get all the promotions from the cereal and coke". I'm a little skeptical that this is such a product as I'd venture to say that those companies wouldn't invest in something unless their imprint is somewhere on the items.

My first thought was unlicensed junk from a vending machine.

Thanks, Tom, but I have 17 of the stickers that were given to me. I was just trying to see if they were associated to any card set.
I'm leaning towards Chuck's opinion, especially since the Super Bowl I sticker is labeled as "Super Bowl I" when that label was not official for that game. It was simply "First World Championship Game AFL vs. NFL".

Same with the second World Championship Game (Super Bowl II). Super Bowl III was the first use of the term.

Sure. I had guessed that the whole set was made in 1986 (Super Bowl XX) and that it was not an annual release.
I agree that the vending machine hypthesis, or something of that ilk, is as likeley as anything.
