Should this be added as a variation card or should an insert set be added? It is not listed on the Upper Deck website.

No, only if Upper Deck publicized a separate red ink insert. Players choosing to use different color inks is not a VAR. ------------------------------- *Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.*
