The card company got his name wrong. They put a Y on the end as you would find in America. But the man is Russian and it ends in I. Someone in the company failed to do the research.

Russian names can vary between years and brands. There are 3 different names in the system each for Slava Kozlov and Semyon Varlamov.

Виталий Абрамов, converting/translating from Cyrillic to English can have multiple spellings, all acceptable.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Cyrillic has letters English doesn't have. Translating a name from a Cyrillic speaking country (not just Russia) is somewhat fluid...and there are documented instances of a player changing the way he wants it translated. Semyon Varlamov as mentioned is a perfect example. Some players also refer to themselves with different translations than the league and card companies do. For example, Artemi Panarin spells his first name Artemiy on his Twitter and Instagram accounts.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. It is called translitteration. Think of it as translating sound pronounciations. That kind of spelling difference is often seen in Canada where English and French have both official language status. The name spelling may vary according to where the translitteration was done. Let's someone arrived at the Toronto airport, the customs and immigration officer will write his/her name based on the English pronounciation, but if that person arrives in Montreal, the French pronounciation can be used. I heard about an Italian woman called Angiola. In Italy, she was nicknamed Ginetta, but it was too complicated for the English speaking officer in Halifax and he changed that for Gina, then Angèle when she arrived in the French speaking part of Montreal. That's also why Ottawa newspapers are writing Alexei Yashin, Boris Yeltsin or Vladimir Putin in English, but Alexei Yashine, Boris Eltsine or Vladimir Poutine in French. Abramov is just another case.

Different spellings should be added to the PID as an alias.
