I have questions about 2 possible variations of the 1990 Topps Traded Baseball Set. I apologize if these have been answered in previous forum posts, but I did not see anything in my search.
My first question is based upon the image labeled "Card Front". I have a #36T Mike Harkey with 1 star where the rest have 2 and the picture in the database has 2. I clicked through each card in the database and they all have 2 stars, some close and some away from the copyright symbol. I've seen other sets which have variations based upon the stars. Is this the case for this set?
My second question is based upon the image of the card labeled "Card Back". This card has a much brighter yellow back than the others and may even be made of a different cardboard. On ComC, I see one card with the duller yellow and several with the brighter yellow.
Thank you.

Tony, this is from the Cardboard Connection.
Keeping the same colorful design from 1990 Topps Baseball, the late-season update has 132-cards. They are noted with a 'T' suffix on the numbering. Variation collectors can chase after two different versions of every card. Those inserted in the factory set use white card stock, leaving backs bright. Cards from wax packs have a grey card stock on the back. Neither version carries a premium.

You will find the Grey Backs listed as a parallel set for 90 Topps Traded as well as a Release Note along the lines of what Joshua mentioned.

Robert “It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops. Today, October 2, a Sunday of rain and broken branches and leaf-clogged drains and slick streets, it stopped and summer was gone.” ― A. Bartlett Giamatti robertkimble.us/tradingcards

I have a set of the regular factory set issue (bright) and one of the grey backs that I pulled and collated straight from a wax box. The Tiffany's do have the bright backs, but the fronts will be glossier like their previous year's brethen.

So eliminate Tiffany because of the Glossy fronts
Leaving white backs and gray backs.
I just encountered these variations while listing cards. Not realizing that someone made a separate "gray back" set, I marked the Insert Set with VAR to indicate the difference backs.
A bit messy. Now what?

The gray backed cards can be found with either a * or an ** in the print code on back, so there are actually three versions of each card.

This is correct. I've done far too much research on this particular set.
