Can anyone help identify this Don Mattingly card in the database? I can't seem to find it but wanted to see if anyone can identify it before making the request to add. As a clear minded adult who is re-discovering his youthful card collection, I'm regretting my poor decisions as a child to blindly purchase countless unauthorized Mattingly cards. LOL
Many thanks if anyone can help solve the mystery.

That logo looks familiar...but I don't think it is from "Star" that was a legitimate company. Dan (Vrooomed) would definitely know if they are connected.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

STATZ, not Star. And certainly nothing we ever did.

-- Dan -- Note: Please see my profile for more info regarding trading (section updated 10/25/2023). I have added a large portion of my inventory to the site, and currently have trading turned off (details are in my profile). I have (finally) unearthed my 2 very large boxes of Star Company minor league sets and they are available (email for details).

STAR, thus the big star for an "A". But since it's not a real company...

It certainly looks like a kissing-cousin to the STATZ multi-sport set that was referenced above by C2Cigars:
https://www.tradingcarddb.com/ViewSet.cfm/sid/154797/1990-91-Star-(unlicensed)
The FRONT design of the Mattingly card fits in with this set perfectly (see Sanders, Montana, Rice, Elway cards), however, the BACK of the Mattingly card ony shows 1990 (not "1990-91" like the rest of the cards in this set). This difference is enough for me to say I shouldn't add it to the set. Agree? Disagree?

Agree. Two different sets for sure. Question is,was the company ST*R or ST*TZ? I believe it was ST*R.

May never know their intent since there's no copyright line. The the large star in the name would indicate STAR. Plus, only star players are included in the set(s).
