I have been looking at the Crop Help queue a little more often recently and noticed some issues.
1st - please scan big. The bigger, the better. Easier to crop. And don't allow your scanner to auto crop or set the image size to be 2.5" x 3.5" - if you don't have the card perfect, it will be "incomplete". It's better to not crop off enough than to crop off too much. (Just as in cutting wood, you can always take a little more off, you can never add an inch of wood back on!)
2nd - please remove the cards from sleeves, top loaders, and/or pages. It clouds the image and reduces the quality of the image drastically. I've been seeing more of these recently.
3rd - please make sure your scan is straight and not crooked. One of our esteemed members (Billy Kingsley) has recommended using PhotoScape (freeware) for fixing your images. I downloaded it earlier this year and it's been amazing. Cards sometimes spin on the scanner, and this software can adjust (to a certain extent).
Here are the Image Guidelines: http://www.tradingcarddb.com/ImageGuidelines.cfm
And the FAQ page: http://www.tradingcarddb.com/FAQ.cfm?ITEM=ScanningCards
And even though, it's on the FAQ page, here is Billy's tutorial on using PhotoScape and making the cards look like they do in your hand: http://cardboardhistory.blogspot.com/p/how-to-make-your-scans-look-like-cards.html
Please, follow these tips, and you'll find your scans being posted much quicker (and not being sent back). Thank you!

Trying to acquire one card for every for every set, insert, parralle, minor, euro, team issue, oddball etc sets produced for Hockey. Been an interesting project.

Looking at some of the cards that have been rejected as "low quality" or "incomplete", I think maybe we're being a little too restrictive. Some of the "low quality" look to be the exact size the cards display on the site. Since the site has no zoom option, I'm not seeing the problem on a lot of them.

Agreed. Last week I was killing some time and went to crop some cards in the queue and there was like 5 pages of cards labelled "low quality," and I couldn't see any reason why. Scans were clean, nothing crooked, and everything looked good.

Some recent rejects were mistakes (sorry) <head hanging in shame>. *
However, plenty of the LQ ones are being scanned while still in pages, sleeves, top loaders, or sleeves and top loaders.
* - The mistakes were made because the submitter originally submitted a slew a scans that were in fact well below the standard set forth by Admin (and verified by Admin that they were indeed LQ). I made the mistake of not realizing until it was too late that the member began submitting correctly sized ones until I noticed they were not blurry. Once rejected, they can't be pulled back - only resubmitted. My humblest apologies to those involved. It was with the best of intentions.

I'm sure some of these were mine, as I submitted a few in the last few days. I usually scan in a topload, so going forward I will only upload ones that aren't done that way. Apologies for the inconvenience.

If that was you, cool. Wasn't trying to point fingers or anything, just wanted to remind what the policies and guidelines here are. We truly appreciate all the submitted items.

I came across the same thing a while back. Page after page marked as a "Problem". I couldn't see any problems on 90% of them. I reported it to Admin that maybe someone was being malicious. Might be time to let Admin know again.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Just a quick question.
What about Topps Chrome Refractors? I scan them differently than other cards, with the top up on the scanner, so I need to put the card in a top loader because the card would bend and be blurry.
Here's an example:

That's my scan, it was in a top loader. So, would it have been marked a problem or low quality?
If so, I would have to find a different method.

IMO, that looks pretty good. But most times a top-loader, penny sleeve and album page causes low quality and reflections. Different scanners handle them differently.
