In an effort to be more communicable and friendly towards members within the community, my profile has been updated as follows.
** Note- I am on this trading site to interact with others and share the joy this hobby gives me. If you send an offer with no message, I will consider you a bot and decline with the same non-message you sent me (so don't get butthurt if you get declined in this fashion). If you can take the time to pull, package, mail, and check off status bars, you certainly have time to write a short note.
Is that too much to ask or am I just being a grumpy old guy? Your input is greatly appreciated.

100% honesty, declining an offer just because there isn’t a message seems a bit much. It’s certainly up to interpretation but I don’t expect a message with each offer, and I don’t provide one, unless there is something I want the other party to know about the offer. To each there own though!

You saying "grumpy old guy" possible
If one has questions that is what the message is for. No messages are not needed all the time in my view.

Seems like grumpy old guy stuff to me. But if that's your pet peeve then that's your pet peeve. I'd rather a person decline a trade with me over going into one unhappy from the get go.

I totally understand the desire for a nice intro message, even if it's as simple as "Hello, wish to trade?", because it reminds us that someone is available for discussion on the other side if needed. I think it's about 50/50 message/no message in offers coming to me, so declining due to no message means less cards en route. It's up to you if you wish to make a point about community, but know that you might miss out on the primary reason trades are happening here.

I kind of agree with the responses. I like the message but I get the gist without it.

A short note or message is NOT too much to ask. It is just common courtesy & polity, something that We have lost TOO MUCH of in Our modern society . . .

I'm leaning towards the "grumpy old guy" side.
If you send a trade offer without a message (included with the Transaction, or through their profile), it appears more like a demand - give me the cards *I* want for this stuff you may or may not want. Sending a message is akin to including the transaction number with the cards sent - a courtesy, not a requirement. It doesn't take much effort to add a comment to the offer & lets the other member know you're open to negotiating. We all value cards differently & not all "wants" are created equal - some are gotta-have-it needs, while others may just be set-fillers or cards of mild interest.
It takes two to trade, or tango, so even if you lead, have consideration for your partner.

To me it dont matter if there is a message or not for a proposal. I usually include a message even if it's only "are you up for a trade". If I send an offer and it's declined I would like a message explaining why so I know if I send another offer I know what I did wrong with that trader
