I contacted Admin about my new feature request: https://www.tcdb.com/FeatureTracker.cfm?MODE=VIEW&ID=225&PageIndex=1. He asked if I would poll the members about what he thought he could do quickly.
Does anyone have a problem with changing the name of the filter "Do No Have" to "No Status"? Along with the name change the list would not have the cards in your want list on it. If that is the way I understand his reply.
Below is his message to me. My request evolved into a little more than just changing the name and removing the want cards. I added if he could add a "Do Not Want" list for those who want to put cards like the 1/1s on. There are several requests about the Have, Do Not Have and want lists. I was hoping he could do all of them at once.
Hello Jim,
This is basically like the "Don't Have" filter, but with the wantlist items removed, right? Unfortunately, getting that added would be a very long and involved process and I can't justify stopping work on higher priority projects to add something that barely cracks the top 60 as far as priorities are concerned (as voted by the site members). One thing we could do, which would be a fairly easy change would be to modify the "Don't Have" filter to not pull the wantlist items and rename it to "No Status" (as what we're wanting to do is pull items that haven't already been flagged with one of the other statuses, Have, Want, For Sale / Trade, etc). Please poll the members to see if anyone has a good reason to keep the "Don't Have" filter. They would be able to do the same thing by using the "Want" and "No Status" filters and the "No Status" filter would be much more useful to members than the current "Don't Have" filter.
Please give your input so Admin can evaluate the feature. Thanks

I believe it'd be a good enhancement to change it to "No Status" and exclude the "Wants".

I agree, I think this would be a nice improvement.

I also think having a "No Status" filter would be more useful than the current "Don't Have".

-- Dan -- Note: Please see my profile for more info regarding trading (section updated 10/25/2023). I have added a large portion of my inventory to the site, and currently have trading turned off (details are in my profile). I have (finally) unearthed my 2 very large boxes of Star Company minor league sets and they are available (email for details).

Interesting premise, though I think "no status" is still something different than "don't have." I occasionally use "Don't have" to double whether I have added the right cards to my want list, but for that I need to see the want listed cards as well--at least this is true for modern sets like Topps having base parallel short prints included in the main list (that is, cards I might not care as much to add to the want list). But I can see how "No Status" would allow me the same kind of view. For instance, if I pick "no status" and the only cards listed are short print parallels (e.g., 1c wearing a clown nose), then I could infer that the cards with status are the ones that should have a status.
TL;DR: Yes, I like the idea.

"No Status" makes sense. But will all members understand what it means?

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I like the concept of don't want vs. doesn't have. I am not interested in 1/1, 1/5, 1/10. I would also want to exclude buybacks, hostess / magazine panels vs. individual cards. This I a good feature to add.

I look at this being the first step improving this area. My feature is listed at 58. You can always put my feature at the top of your priory. There are several ahead of it that could be tied into it but would take more time.
I think the next step would be making a Do Not Want filter. My understanding is that will take more time and effort to get done. Exclude 1 of 1 cards feature is at 8 not sure if he is working it yet. The Do not want filter would/could take care of that. See newly added cards Feature is at 23. They would be the only cards on your No Status list IF there was a Do Not Want list. I see "where you see them" and how they are linked together being the biggest issue for Admin. It will not be easy.
I truly believe Admin understand what I'm getting at BUT he has his priorities but does want to help us out.

I use "dont have" on my player collections where I only collect a subset of all available cards but where occasionally new cards are added that I'm not aware of.
I guess I could check "no status" and see what I don't recognize and add them to my wants if applicable. Extra step for me but not the end of the world as long as I'm aware that I need to do it from time to time

So would this be an additional status for cards?
If a card isn't checked, it isn't always clear to be if I've gone through that part of my collection and inventoried it or not. There are sets that I've gone through and checked what I have that I don't care enough to actually want the cards I'm missing from it but then there are sets that I do want in trades. It would be nice to have a way to mark off which cards that I have confirmed I don't have in a way that wont flag them for potential trades.
