So I am trying to get my points up and I thought you can by adding prices, you can't. So I don't have a scanner does anyone have any suggestions, has anyone used the phone scanner, does that count? So many questions.

You do get points for submitting prices (not sure how many), but they don't get added until the end of the month.

There are other ways to earn points, like adding External Links to profiles, adding Packaging images, etc.

The "phone scanner" does not count as a scan. It still shows up as a photo b/c you cannot get the correct angle and configuration. So don't waste your time with that! Other ways to gain points not listed above are by adding teams and notes for cards that are missing them. Again, they only show up at the end of the month and all of the things listed so far are only fractions of a point that is only known to Admin. Adding scans and Checklists are the main ways to gain points and they show up immediately. But you better do them right the first time and every time.

I did some prices last month and I was like " I know it's not much but, I want to know how much" still at 0 so maybe it will show up but, it hasn't shown up yet I'm still at 0.

What do you mean by those examples, and how do I do that?

Packaging doesn't have to be scanned, those can be high-quality photos. Kind of hard scanning a wax box...
Points can be gathered in a multitude of ways on top of the info already passed. Adding External Links (providing a link to another site that provides information about that set, Cardboard Connection for example), updating bio information. If you go to this link (Things To Do | Trading Card Database (tcdb.com)) you'll see a wealth of options of items that need updating.
If your end goal is to be an L8 then you'll need to get a scanner otherwise forever L6 at best. However, you are contributing to the site and there is something to be said about that.
EDIT" But jupiterhill you said it more eloquently...

Adding Packing Images, you can go to the set and take a picture of the card pack and/or box. You don't need to scan them, so pictures should be okay, as long as they are clear and not blurry. I believe Admin approves them, and I've never had a problem with the ones I've added (though to be fair I have scanned all mine).
External Links on profiles, is basically find a person, say Patrick Mahomes. On his profile on here, there is a spot to list external links, like say his wikipedia page, his NFL bio page, maybe his 15 and Mahomes Foundation page, etc... I've never done that because I don't think I've ever used the external links.
Another thing you can do is at the bottom of the page is a heading called "Things To Do". There should be other examples of what you can do, and also the Permissions section. Passing levels of permissions will allow you to help out the site more and show you the ropes on what and how to do. Once completed the Things To Do should give you many other opportunities to get points.
It's always nice to see newer members want to take the time to help the site, but remember, points don't really mean anything on the site, so the bigger rewards is knowing you're helping the site become better.
EDIT: Darn you jimetal7212, for writing what I did but much more concisely and quicker to the draw.
