Hi all, new user here, I searched the forums but didn't find an immediate answer.
I'm mostly interested in stickers, I collected a lot of albums as a 90s kid and would like to scan these to be archived in this incredible resource!
My question: is there a place for me to scan the album itself, either completed fully, in-part or empty, and are there any rules about this?
The beauty of the albums is kinda lost when it's just a list of stickers, and that's all I've really encountered so far on the database. Album covers would also be very useful!

Album front and back covers go under Packaging. We don’t usually scan the insides unless necessary.

Thank you!! Good to know they go under packaging.
I understand you don't usually scan the insides, but is there any specific reason for that?
To me that's half the collectible and would greatly improve the database if all entries had them.
Just a suggestion. Keen to hear the thoughts of more experienced users.

Not sure what the final word will be on what you're requesting, BUT you can probably use the list feature to show the pages and then link the list to the associated sets.

The sticker checklists on the site are simply presented as the original unpeeled stickers as they're found in packs, just as if they were cards. There really hasn't been any focus on showing what all the different pages of a sticker album look like, and if there was, do we show a fully empty album or a completed album?

I'm not sure if this is the answer you are looking for, but usually the individual stickers are scanned to the checklist on the site (both the front and backside). I have seen some scans of the fronts of stickers that were already in albums scanned onto the checklists, but they are in most cases not cropped properly (off centre or crooked etc.). Also since the stickers are already in the album the scan of the backs are missing from the site. In these cases someone has to scan the back to the site then re-scan the front to replace the poor quality image ... if they have a stack of doubles not alreay stuck in an album.
Scaning the cover and back of the album is a pretty good idea though, and posting it to the packaging section would be perfect.

There are cases where that's all we can get. I came across one of those cases and rejected the images as photographed. The member complained in the forums, by saying that Admin had agreed to allow them. So I told him, to reupload them and if I saw them, I would immediately approve them. That is exactly what took place.
If they are really bad, I would reject them as photographed, but in the case of the ones that I described above, they were pretty good photographs.

I think full-page scans of completed albums are much more interesting than scans of individual stickers, and we should be able to add them as packaging images for lack of a better spot. I added these with Admin approval a few years ago, but I think every other sticker album I own is too wide to capture a full-page scan on my printer.

Pictures and "photos" ARE allowed for "Packaging" for anything on this site!!! Why is anyone without knowledge of that able to "reject" images? How the hell did you get that permission?! THAT is why I have stopped contributing as much over the past couple of years! It doesn't matter anymore what my knowledge of the hobby or the site is now b/c random newbies can just start f'ing up everything that we did long before they arrived. The pandemic has completely screwed up this site because every member thinks they know what they are doing after just a few months now! It took me YEARS to figure out how this site works and even my knowledge now is "trumped" by idiots. I'm sick of dealing with this crap and it's why I stopped trying to help anymore about 6 months ago or so. NEWBIES need to learn their place. I might just have to come back with a vengence to put all of them in their place when they type something stupid!

Photos and images for "Packaging" don't go through users for review. They go directly to Admin. That hasn't changed.
If you read the post Kevin (barfan) quoted in his reply, he was referring to rejecting images in the queue that were submitted for the individual stickers. Someone had taken a full sheet, photographed them, and then tried to crop the individual stickers down to the right size.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.
