I am now into creating PID's that are mising for actors from shows in the Non-Sports category. This leads to a question. I searched through FAQ's first though. Some sets show the person and character, like William Shatner as James Kirk. It seems hit or miss as what characters have their own PID. Major characters seem to be this way. The main characters in Star Trek have PID'a, yet only Fonzie has a PID from Happy Days. Is there a protocol as to who gets a PID. Lastly, shoud the above card be William Shatner / James Kirk instead of William Shatner as James Kirk.

To keep things cleaner looking, cards with "Real Name as Character Name" should be listed with the actor name in the Name field and the character name in Note2, so it should be William Shatner in Name with James Kirk in Note2. As for characters having PIDs, I've seen a mix and differing opinions but usually try to keep it to major characters only.

So, if the character is listed in Note 2 field, add as an associated name ONLY if the character already has a PID.

Correct. For example, there are sets with autograph inserts for secondary characters, and we'd list those character names in Note2, but they don't need their own PID.

Characters not having PIDs because they "Aren't major" only becomes an issue if the character has multiple cards. It makes finding cards difficult using search especially for those in non-sport or gaming where a character may be the prominant feature on a card but the card title doesn't like a name.

I'm missing something. I've been trying to create a PID for a fictional character. I seem to remember seeing a page (a while ago now) with the checkbox that toggles between fictional character and non-fictional person, but I can't seem to find the page for adding names that has that option anymore.
On the same subject, when a character name is made up of two words, does the full name get put in the First Name field, the Last Name field, or does it get split First Name / Last Name? I seem to be finding some that are done each way, so I'm not sure which is correct. Based on the FAQ for inanimate objects, I assume that the complete character name should be in the Last Name field.

The toggle between "Y" and "N" for "non-fictional human" can be accessed from the "Edit Info" link on the PID page.
And yes, the entire thing should be in the "last name" field.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

Toggle for non-fictional human is onthe edit page for the profile, right under Full Name.
For a fictional character that has a "real" style name, like "Charlie Brown", it would still be "Brown, Charlie". Anything not real name-like would all go in the last name field.

OK, so the PID must be created first, then the Non-Fictional Human field can be toggled to "No".
Thanks -

Also for those that missed it yesterday, TV show and movie characters that were portrayed by only a single actor should be added as Aliases to the real name PID and not created as separate profiles. Wrestlers, characters played by multiple actors (Spiderman, Superman, Batman, etc.) and characters featured in novels (Game of Thrones, etc.) can continue to be separate.
