What is printed on the card-in-hand should always take precedence.
I do recall a set (can't recall exact set) that the sell sheet/ads and packaging had a completely different name for an insert set than what was printed on the cards. And it caused a lot of "I can't find this insert card", "Please add this insert set, it's not listed."

I specifically asked Admin about that and he said to use the plural. That's why we're using plurals here. Nothing to do with Beckett or any other site. Admin requested it.

Chuck, was it 1995 Topps where they originally called the insert "Spectralight" then released it as "CyberStats"?

These are cases where adding that kind of info into the release notes can help. With more focus on adding these things there, it might get members to start readingt them more often. Currently, sets having release notes are the exception, rather than the rule so the members don't think to look there. More Release Notes presence means more awareness.

I know there are a lot of differing opinions of how things should be done and how things are listed. I do not think changing the name of an insert set or card number always needs an IR if you are confident in changing it based on the resources. If your organization relys soley on this site maybe switch the way you organize cards. I know if can be hard to find cards without scans and when the set name and the card have different names, it can be hard when searching for it on the database.

I am trying to understand how else one would organize a player collection if this site is the primary reference a collector uses which I think the majority of our members do. I used to have them sorted by Yr/Company/Set/Insert but when I would reconcile my PC, it would get problematic as the site lists Fleer Ultra as Ultra, Leaf Studio as Studio, Topps Finest as Finest, etc. Plenty of threads have discussed this so let's not start another one. I finally succumbed to the site's naming convention and ordered my PC in the same order as they are listed on this site (I believe it was Dan who told me he had finally done the same though I may be mistaken on who it was). But that is where this thread started where I explained the issue with renaming sets and inserts.
I thought I was well organized but I am always open to suggestions on collection organization. My criteria remains:
1. Career progression
2. Easy to verify (physically and electronically against each other)

It was not me, as I keep parallels after base cards, then the inserts. I do not use ANY site's organization for mine.

The one that sticks in my mind was a football set.

The way I organize my cards. Is by year first. Then into each set, followed by parrallels from non numbered to the lowest number. And lastly by inserts (in no particular order). This allows me to have the set with the parrallels and inserts from the same release. It is the easist way to keep similar cards together in my opinion

I like the idea of the order of "Base set, Parallel to lowest SN, then Inserts" but the problem I have with that is that when I look at the collection compared to the online list, they are different. I wish there was a way for the site to list the cards a hierarchial order instead of alphabetically but I don't know if that is even possible in computer programming.
