Good short video on how to propose a trade. There are a few other things one should consider or do when looking to trade:
1. Review the other member's profile as many will have their priorities listed in cards they want (just because someone has 40K+ on their want list does not mean they are all equal priority), what condition they are willing to accept (mostly for vintage), and the types of trade they will consider (vintage for vintage, cross-sports, PWE, etc.). The member's profile will also show when they last logged on the site. There are members who have not been on the site for months or years; proposing a trade with them is pointless. If they were on more recently, a message asking if they are willing to trade before building a proposal may save you some time.
2. When proposing a trade or Accepting an offer, pull the cards to make sure you actually have them available. You can agree in principle to the trade so that both ends can pull the cards before going to the Acceptance stage. We have all seen that sometimes cards are not removed from our For Trade lists for whatever reason. It is frustrating (or embarrassing) to have a trade accepted then to be told that certain cards are not available. As well, report any issues with conditions of any of the cards you are offering. It is easier to Counter these instances so that the final accepted trade is accurate.
3. When you pull the cards and before you package them, make a final count of the cards to make sure that you have all the cards that are in the transaction. Too often we see trades where anywhere from 1 to 10 cards are missing when they reach destination. Avoid being one of those who missed a card(s).
4. Communicate, communicate, communicate.... Silence is often uncomforting.
Feel free to add to this list!
