Use the Paper trick here especially...and always scan prizms with prizms and mosaic w/mosaic etc for the best outcomes

Depending on the type of prizm and pattern, I sometimes scan them inside a toploader to break the surface light and make certain patterns more visible. It's kinda trial and error though. Toploaders are also handy because often these days, prizms are bent, like recent Mosaic, and this way you won't have to push on the scanner lid to straighten out the card.
