I see a lot of posts where someone says "I don't know how to do this" or "I'm new here, and I don't know what to do" - and in some cases "I've been here months/years, and still have no clue about such-and-such".
Let's start something. Let's start being mentors.
I will start another thread (that will hopefully be as popular as some other threads) and will update the first post in it to show who is available to mentor lesser-experienced members in various areas.
What I need first - in this thread - is an idea of what areas we can list. For me, I know I can mentor in Checklist Creation / Submission. There may be a few more areas I can help in as well. :) But I would like to know what areas we see people usually asking for help, and then how we can best help people.
If there is one thing about the membership here, we're are one of the most helpful bunches of people on the planet. So, help me here, and let's get some ideas rolling. Once we have a list that seems to cover it all, I'll start the new thread and get people to volunteer their names to specific topics. (Please do not do that in this thread - only suggest topics, thank you.)

Hey I am willing to help out anyone that needs a hand. Don't want to catagorize myself as each set is a different, for lack of a better term, difficult to research. You want pointers feel free to ask me. If I don't know the solution I'll be straight forward with it.

I like the idea, and would be glad to help (in my areas of strength)
I would add this general area to the list:
using player/team filters to find cards, (such as having a name and a number but don't know what year)
also....the mentions in collections area (who has one available, and who needs it when you are looking at a particular card)
thanks, mark

I do like to help where I can. I am far from an expert in any one area, but I don't mind trying to figure it out. From Dan's list, here is what I feel comfortable helping with. Please feel free to message me and I can see if I can help to the best that I can.
TCDB Site Areas
- Checklist Creation/Submission
- I am not good in obtaining set information. I do not know how sets are released and am not effectient in this research. I am familiar on how to add a set and checklist and any tweaks to them.
- Card Image Scanning / Uploading
- I have uploaded plenty to the site. I use two different scanners and neither are that high-end. I also use Photoscape X to straighten and crop the images.
- Adding Images to Cards for Personal Use
- Requesting Missing Cards / Card Deletions / Duplicate Sets / Submitting Other Inaccuracies
- I am in and out of the IR Queue and trying to help here where I can. What I have a challenge is trying to determine if a card exists. If proof is provided, I am familiar with adding to an existing checklist or appending to the end of one.
- Using Transaction Manager
- I have over 650 completed trades on this site and about a dozen in process. I also have completed about 100 more outside of the site.
- Updating PIDs / Teams / Notes / Other Card Info
- Managing a Collection
- Managing Multiple Collections
- Using Filters in PIDs
- Using Team Filters
I'm sure I can help in most situations and I am available to help multiple times a day. Most often, I am available late at night. After I get home from work, the kids get to bed and Hogan's Heroes is over at 10pm, I usually can be found working on something for a couple of hours every night.
This is a great idea Dan, thanks for starting it!!

* Adding multiple copies to collection or FS/T at once
* Adding unopened materials or hand-collated sets to collection or FS/T

Moving cards from collection to FS/T
How to use filters to find a card that has a different trade mark year (think a 2020 release trademarked 2019)(goes along with finding a card in the database)
