Good day everyone. I am new to this site and I have a catalog question. My collecting goal is to have a complete Base Topps set from every year since I started collecting (1986) to the present.
I have a secondary goal that would be to have a complete set of every Topps issued regular base set. Obviously, I cannot afford that endeavor; but since the introduction of reprints 20+ years ago, I could complete them with originals and reprints. I want my checklists to look complete, however. Is there a way to add, for example, a 1952 Willie Mays, but denote that it is a reprint and not to add the card value to my collection?
Also, I want to say, that this site is amazing from what I have seen. I cannot wait to start cataloging my collection so I can get rid of what I don’t want and start getting those sets finally filled in.

When adding individual cards, you can use the drop down arrow and do a "Detailed Add". There, you have a Comment window where you can add teh comment "Reprint" (or however you choose to denote it, possibly with the year of the Reprint).
The only issue with this is that you will not see the comment you make when looking at your Collection as a whole. It is only visible when you look at the individual card. There is a New Feature proposed to be able to view the comment but it met with differing opinions about wanting it so not sure if we will ever see it. You can view the New Feature at https://www.tcdb.com/FeatureTracker.cfm?MODE=VIEW&ID=143&PageIndex=1

To add to what Bruno said. I would also put the original card on your wantlist. You never know what you have on your trade list that someone has been looking for, for a long time. You may just look and find the original of the card you are looking for.

First off, welcome. I'm sure you're going to love it here.
Secondly, once you start entering in cards to trade, I'm sure I can help with some of your sets. I have boxes of cards from the 80s to early 2000s. I'm only adding small amounts of cards at a time for trade as I'm trying to keep them organized as I add them. I plan to start adding a lot more over the summer.
As for flagging what you are looking for in the database, the reprints will show up differently from the original cards in the database. Just make sure to flag those other versions instead of the originals. Personally I see no down side to flagging both, in all honesty. If you aren't concerned with condition, you never know when someone might hit you up with a very poor condition of the original card that they would trade for something you have. My goal has been to collect all Topps sets from 1971 (the year I was born) through current. I have most of the 80s and all the regular sets from 90 to 2020 but I'm still hunting for variations that I didn't know about and traded/ update sets that I didn't collect when they came out. I found it amazing how quickly you can trade to fill sets here. People on this site are great.

Thank you all for the welcomes and the feedback. Nobody mentioned the price aspect. If I change the price, that only affects MY collection and not the site entry for that card, correct?

If you change the price of the card in your collection it should only cahng the price in your collection. if you submit aprice then it will update in the system.
