I've had to decline every trade proposal I've ever received that used prices as their basis for a "fair" trade. 'Nuf said.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Add me to the "No" crowd for the time being... at least until the site pricing can be made more consistent and automatically updated based on market trends from multiple sources.

While I really don't trade on here, I probably wouldn't want this option, but would be fine for those that do. Maybe having a toggle for members that wouldn't want it and if trading with that person it could be blacked out on those proposals. I do agree that basing it off this site wouldn't be the smartest, but everybody has their way of basing their value. Most of my trades are usually commons, so pricing isn't really a big deal to me.

I would not be in favor of that. My trading experience here has been that different people think of "value" in many different ways. Some want to trade based on recent eBay sales prices. Some want to trade by book value. Some want to trade by TCDB prices. Some want to trade by what they could get them for on blowout.

I always do a bit of current market research before trading just because on one of my early trades here I let go a LeBron card that appears to sell for $400 for a handful of $1 Hakeems — who knew 2nd year cards were a thing?!
If people get worked up about book value in a trade it doesn't bother me — if I want to trade for a card I probably value it higher than BV and if I am moving a duplicate I most likely value it lower. Hence, a BV for BV trade would rovide me good personal value.
As to the original question; beyond the obvious issues with accuracy of price the site has there are just too many cards with no listed price for it to really be of practical use I feel.

Personally I like the idea. While I think we all agree the site values aren't something that should be viewed as gosple, they do help guide a little in assuring it's a fair trade. As someone who really only follows baseball but has cards of other sports and cards my kids collect, it's nice to know that what cards are the "good ones" in any given set vs commons or even semi stars. Using the site's values it helped me identify a soccar card I have that routinely sells on ebay for over $50. I thought the whole lot of soccar cards were crap and would have given them away for nothing. A friend of mine from Italy knew the player and said he's like the Babe Ruth of soccer.

why not? prices are already available through the site. would save a lot of toggling back and forth. every trader can put as much or as little value on the prices as they choose.

It's funny (to me) that I completely understand that crap happening from that specific member.

I still say NO to "this site's prices" being added to trades. They are all over the place. Even common sense doesn't help for those that have no idea what they own and think they are sitting on gold when they aren't even sitting on aluminum.
For the record at this time: Gold is selling for something like $1500 per OUNCE, while Aluminum is selling for about 40 cents per POUND!
