It’s been a while since I have scanned any cards to the site, but I was able to do 3 so far this month. I have a different scanner than I used to have, and it appears that my new scanner cuts off a bit of anything that is laid on the edges of the scanner.
My old scanner didn’t have this issue so I would pretty much just have to crop the right and bottom of the card.
But now I have to put the card further down on the glass, and this makes me now have to crop 2 additional sides of the card.
Does anyone have any tips or techniques on how to crop cards faster? I use photoscape, and I just have a hard time lining up the cropping box just right. I have to go back and forth with it and I have a tough time getting it right where it needs to be. So it takes me a while just to crop the card properly.
Also, I am not very good at judging if a card is straight or not so I had to use toploaders to extend the corners of the scanner and use the sides of the top loaders to line up the card straight. When I scan the cards just by themselves in the middle of the glass, I have a hard time even with photoscape determining if a card is straight or not using the tool to freely rotate the card.
So does anyone have any tips, suggestions, or ideas why my scanner is cutting off the edges that might make cropping cards a faster process?

I'm certainly no expert, but had a load of issues lining up the card and then having to fix it. I simply took a 9 card sheet and trimmed the edge (3 hole side) and put the cards in it to scan, dunno if that solves the issue you're having, but sped up the process and made scanning a whole lot easier for me

Photoscape has a straightening tool. Every scan I've done over the past 2 or 3 years has been directly on the glass, no sleeves or anything, and put there with little regard to straightness. The tool helps me fix that. No need for any extras on the glass. I also don't let anything be auto-cropped. Full size, then crop it down manually. Takes a little longer, but the images are straight and complete.

Cut a piece of paperboard straight and parallel to place agianst the edge, then place the cards up against that. You still have to crop all 4 sides.

The only problem I've had in Photoscape is sometimes when I am rotating an image to prepare for cropping, the tool is in the "resize" mode instead of "level off" (or is it the other way round?) and messes me up by adjusting the image size while I am simply trying to just rotate the image not ajust the size or what part of the image I am seeing.

I have used the straightening tool since I got this new printer/scanner back in 2018. I have only done 5 cards since then. The last 2 I used the toploaders against the edges to keep the card straight, but the previous 3 were with the straightening tool. Do you have any tips on how to use that tool? Even with the grid my eyes still have a hard time telling if the card is straight or not. It takes me forever adjusting it back and forth and second guessing it every time.

My scanner sotware had a selerction for documet feeder or scanner glass. Once I chose scanner glass, I was able to put the cards directly on the glass in the corner (against 2 edges) and they now come out stright. I can line up multiple cards and then crop each one out usig PhotoScape (So can do up to 9 cards at a time.

I use a card decoy as a spacer on one side of the card as I'm putting it on the glass. Gives about 1/8" buffer so the scan doesn't cut it off. If minimal editing is necessary, MS Paint works just fine for cropping.

I have the same problem with my Epson scanner in that the edges of the card don't get scanned. I use an L-square ruler which fits up against the left side and top of the platen. Then the card goes into the corner of the ruler. The scanner software allows me to crop while scanning so I don't usually have to crop post scan. I use Photoshop Elements for any post image processing which also has a great cropping tool.
