Okay, so I'm going to take full responsibility for getting this post off-topic from Dan's original point. I can only speak for myself here, so forgive me.
I am far, far from perfect, but I do believe in a sense of community. I have used this analogy before, but if I see something suspicious or strange around my neighborhood, I have two choices: I can lock my doors and hope that nothing bad happens to me, or I can show concern for my neighbors, share information with them, and alert authorities if necessary. In this case, I chose to take the second path. I saw an opportunity here to share what I knew, and I have also let Admin know about this before. Why involve Admin? Anyone else remember about a year ago when someone added the entire site to their collection for the purpose of making a Database or something? Meanwhile, that same day, the Database slowed to obnoxiously slow speeds? Pretty sure those two things went hand-in-hand, and I'd hate to see it happen again, because I don't think that's an easy fix from behind-the-scenes.
In this case, there were questions raised by members in this thread, and I thought an explanation about what I knew and had observed might do some good to at least give an explanation of what was going on. Maybe I have too much time on my hands; I'll let others decide that. But again, if anyone can give me a good reason to add a 2,000,000 card fake collection to the Database, I'm all for hearing it, and maybe that will soften my opinion.
Again, apologies for being the one responsible for driving this train off the tracks. I know I hate when it happens to me, and what should have been dead and killed two pages ago is now well out of hand. Mea culpa.
I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.
