Back to the issue of Coke caps! The 1964-65 Hockey Caps are listed, but the 1965-66 hockey ones are not. None of the baseball or football caps from before 1972 are listed at all. I cannot say what the administration actual policy on listing them. but it would be nice to see the sets listed here. I think the administration recognizes the difficulty in providing accurate descriptioins that is not difficult to understand.
Even Beckett's identification of Coke sports caps is misleading, misses items, and is inaccurate, particuarly as to Beckett's numbering systems. In some instances, Beckett uses the numbering that appeared on the caps (which usually is the number that Coke put on its various cap Saver Sheets), while other times Beckett does not, making it difficult to identify the year of issue. Generally, Beckett seems to have assigned its own numbering systems that often do not reflect an actual number printed on a cap (these are often a player's uniform number). The numbering can be confusing for everyone, including administration.
I have been working on an accurate listing of Coke caps issued in the 1960's through 1971, for both sports and non-sports subjects, and would be willing to share this information in listings.
Currently, one of the sets I am collecting is the 1963 Coke Football San Diego Chargers caps. I'm willing to trade for any one of them in identifiable condition (does not have to be high grade). Most people who have seen the 1963 Chargers caps don't know what they are because they do not say "Coke" on them. They're around. It's just recognizing what you see. Here's a scan of a few:
You've probably got some buried away. Check my For Sale/Trade lists for currently listed items available for trade. My For Sale/Trade lists are far from complete and over time much more will be added. In 1991-92, I put my store stock away into storage when I closed my shop to return to school. The storage locker is 10x25 feet filled 6-8 feet high. I have most anything. If you do not see something on my For sale/Trade list, just ask and we will see what we can do.
