I recently took a couple months hiatus from trading, and about a month ago began actively trading again. In that span, which included a dozen to 14 trades or so, I had at least 3 instances of other trading partners, not using the "Package Received" option and proceeding directly to the "Trade Complete" option. This left dozens of cards floating around in the "In transit" section of my collection, which have to be removed one at a time from my data base.
Is there any way to modify the trading platform so that "Transaction Completed" could not be used, until the user has utilized the "Package Received" function?
I am not singling out any particular traders, as I know mistakes can happen.

An old problem that still exists no matter how much we have tried to educate the traders here. It was suggested that a member would not be able to select the any other update than the one(s) that would be possible choices. This wold eliminate the ability to simply jump to "Transaction Completed" when they receive the cards.
I thoughtit had been suggested as a new feature but did not see it so I just suggested it. Admin has to review then put up for rating.
In the same vein, I wonder about traders who quickly accelerate to "Transaction Completed" when they receive their cards while their trade partner still waits for his. The transaction isn't completed till both members receive the cards. But I may be the only one who thinks this way.

Once the transaction is completed, you can go to that transaction and under details and messages, there is a Status section.
Status:
Completed (Check Collection)
If you click on the link that's behind "Check Collection", you can move all of the stuff from "In Transit" out of your collection in one click.

I was definitely guilty of this on my first few trades because I assumed if I chose transaction complete that the system would know that a trade can't be complete without receiving my end of it. That was my fault for not reading up on how the trade process worked. Luckily someone educated me pretty quickly. I typically don't mark complete until both sides have received their cards (of course the one time I did recently, my trade partner hasn't received their cards and it has been over a month...).

I submitted the suggested Feature and Admin has already approved it in the things to do list. Usually it takes a bit longer for him to approve it as a possible feature so I think he knows how much we would like it. We all need to confirm this for him so now EVERYONE who trades here needs to go rate it as "numero uno" (number 1 for the anglo only).
To find it, go into the Things To Do (under Features at the bottom of every tcdb page), scroll to New Feature Tracker, click on "More...", click on "Not Ranked" and scroll to the Transaction Manager section. It is titled "Disable Buttons Except for Next Possible Step". Rank it as #1 (smallest score gets the most attention).
I think this is easily doable by a computer geek (Dan? if I was one, I would have put a link to the Feature) so it may become reality quite quickly if there is plenty of interest (as there should be).

I agree with you Bruno on who hits complete first. I think once the second person gets their cards and gets a chance to review, they should be the first to hit complete. Then the first person knows it's all good.

I'm mostly organizing over adding right now.

budler - thanks for the link. It has already moved up in points from 507 to 313 in this short while. #7 on the list. Hopefully as the late risers on the site read this, they too will rate it #1 and we can get it #1 on the list of New Features.

I seldom take the time to vote on New Features but I immediately went to the page to vote on this one. Thanks for making the suggestion and posting this.
Also, I agree with others on when to mark a trade as complete. In my opinion, after both parties have received the cards.

I do think this is a easy to implement solution. And I'll go vote on it now. :)
