In reading the replies, and What members feel about the scanning process....disappoints me. I just got into the IMAGE PROCESSING of many of my cards. As some inferred, the Image Guideline process may be flawed. Now if that's the case, jumping right in might be the wrong approach for me. I just want permission to approve my own submissions, so that I can add the 1000s of missing images i have. Maybe someday reach the elite L8 status, lol. The stories about point farmers, nepotism and penalties in gaining  the "most" points are really discouraging.  I'm sure ADMIN doesn't want to be linked to any of these stories. So many members are opting out of submitting their scans now. I'm not sure what advice to take.????

I saw it but left it...what is the best way to spot these as mock ups?

For many of Topps On-Demand cards, you can usually spot the mockups if the images are posted within a week or so of their release date as Topps is slow to ship these out. However, with the Project 2020 cards, they are way behind in shipments (currently they have only shipped out through card 105) and there are 194 cards so far.

Another potential way to tell (although not fool proof) is the limited zoom ability of images posted from mockups. As a comparison, check out card #69 (actual scanned card) versus card #70 (mockup) for Project 2020. You should notice that the mockup does not zoom in very much.

Many times by the member who uploaded the card and his history of doing so.  Harvest season is well-started in most parts of the country(s).

I dont know about Project 2020 cards, but for most cards the foil areas are a dead giveaway. They usually show up as whitish gray in a mock-up and are blackish in an actual scan. Also, if they are serial numbered cards, the font for the numbering is always different than real cards. 

Panini's Instant cards have a PR on the back. The mockups show a blank spot instead. Most of the cards posted are mock-ups.

All mock up images should be reported so they can be removed. Thank you.

Is the alleged flawed IMAGE PROCESSING  being looked into? Just for future reference. Isn't  Nepotism and Point Farming  really cheating our members? I think it would take away from any member trying to gain legit permission and access.

Assuming the claims are true of course. Members seem pretty vehement that these practices do occur. ADMIN can't let stuff like that go on, IMAGE PROCESSING and gaining points should be fair to all members.

To me this all leads back to the bigger issue that points really don't mean anything beyond gaining access to certain levels.  I believe that the points system should be eliminated and replaced with something else.  Maybe how long you've been active on the site gives you more access.  I'm sure it won't stop all the point farmers but I feel it would stop some or a lot of it.  Maybe give warning to members who continue to ignore the rules, and after so many warnings (or strikes), the be banned from submitting images or whatever they are ignoring for a week, then a month, then a 3 months, then a year.  It won't lock them out of the site so they can still access other parts, but it will stop them from doing what they are doing wrong.

As for discourging members from replacing or fixing the images or even uploading their own, I feel that is sad.  I don't upload my scans much anymore because most of my cards are already uploaded, but I don't have as much confidence in my scanning compared to others.  When I did add scans, I did it to help the site, and to help other members find the cards they have.  Not uploading scans for whatever reason prevents new members from seeing if that is the card they have.  I need to see what cards I have that need adding to help the site.  To me it makes no sense to be willing to help the site in other areas but not scanning if you have in the past because of Admin's interpetations.  I am in the camp that within reason, any scan is better than no scan (exceptions being photos, half cards, things like that).  One reason I stopped doing the cards need cropping was because so many were rejected because the quality was low or not perfectly straight (within reason like 1-5 degrees off). I know this goes against what I said earlier about not helping the site, but it was also fairly caught up at the time so I just found other stuff to work on.

I'm kinda just rambling at this point, so I'll finish with this- if nothing else, help out the site whatever you feel is your strong point.  I guess any help is better than no help, but I feel eliminating points would help, and maybe encourage others to submit more scans, even if they aren't perfect (again, within reason).
