Bob (and anyone else trying to move up the permissions ladder), answers to the questions you asked, and the questions you didn't ask.
1 - GET ACCESS - this means you are now to the stage where you are trying to get the ability to self-approve scans. (This step is listed in Permissions after Levels 1-6 - all of which are obtainable simply by taking very simplistic quizzes.) This will require a member to submit several (about 50-100, number is not a known quantity) scans that do not need any cropping, rotating, and are immediately approved by a member with that level of permission (or Admin). The point with this is show that you really do know what you're doing and can follow the rules set forth by Admin regarding scans, when it comes to submitting them. There is only one person on the planet right now who can grant a member self-approval access, and that is Admin.
2 - Level 7 permissions (once the self-approval access is granted) require a member to attain a certain number of points, or if the member has held membership for more than 1 year, a lower total number of points. If I am not mistaken, I do believe that number is 5,000 points without regard to time of membership or 1,000 points with a year of membership. If you go to the permissions page, you'll see the responsibilities you take on by getting to this level. And yes, hopefully members feel it is a level of responsibility. (Not even touching L8 at this point. We can discuss once L7 has been reached.)
3 - Scanning POGs (or other perfectly round items) - You state: "I'm trying to add sorely needed scans of POGS and I needed to know HOW? In a sleeve, no sleeve, how many on the glass, in a binder page and so on." Like scanning anything, no sleeves, no pages, it should be directly on the glass. Bruno mentions being sure to place them on the glass straight, but I will say get them as straight as you can, and then use software that allows you to straighten scans. Also, use software that allows you to crop round objects. This way there is no color to the square part of the image. If you scan multiple on the glass at one time, be comfortable with copying files. The easiest way is to make enough copies of the file so you have 1 file for each item in the scan (i.e., if you scan 4 at once, make 3 copies of the original file to have 4 total). This way, you can crop down to a single image in each one, and simply save that over the file you already have (and not worry about "save as", then undoing everything to get back the original or re-opening the original). Other than the part about the "circular cropping tool", the same applies to standard cards.
